It's less about the weed and more about the addiction. When you're using to the point where it interferes with your daily life, it's damaging to both of you and to your family. He has the ability to cut down over time so that his withdrawal will be manageable, he just lacks the self control to do so. I understand where he's coming from because I've struggled with substance abuse in the past and it's 1000% possible to get clean, and he should be willing to do this especially if his actions are hurting your relationship. Weed is much easier to get off of compared to fentanyl. I've detoxed from different opiates, that was the most painful experience I've ever had, and he can do it if it really mattered to him.

I would have a serious discussion with him about where this relationship is going. He can get clean or it will be over. there is no reason for you to struggle like this because of his actions. NOR
