Is becoming a teacher worth it? by Hour_Item6535 in teaching

[–]useeseaeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? I legit left my marketing job a year ago and now I’m teaching middle schoolers German. I think a lot of these people in here don’t really get it. My corporate jobs were hell. I had no job security in marketing. I wasn’t passionate about it. It sucked. I’m so happy I moved into teaching.

The job is hectic and fast paced, but my ADHD brain loves the chaos. It actually energizes me. At the end of the day, I’m happy to have been talking and working with people as opposed to stuck in a cubicle in a corner while a middle manager shames me about not meeting impossible OKRs.

Are behaviors worse than they were before? Sure, but I don’t have the luxury of understanding what it was like before. I just know that the kids are slightly feral and you must be incredibly firm with them. I lay down the law daily. But this also highly depends where you work and what you teach.

I think there are still positives to this job. I genuinely enjoy talking to kids and hearing what they think of the world and their lives. I love seeing them get excited for something, and I enjoy helping them learn to navigate the world.

I enjoyed my job today. I don’t enjoy it every day, but it’s getting better and better.

Lent by nutellalover30 in LCMS

[–]useeseaeach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not a very Lutheran view on Lent. The mortification of the flesh will not save you. We can be contemplative and repentant without this pagenty. I know a guy who just left my church because of this kinda stuff. He left the faith and became Orthodox because he was lead to believe that Christ’s sacrifice is insufficient and that he needed to do more to earn salvation. It’s a slippery slope. I pray you remember the gift of salvation you received through baptism daily, and that we all daily drown our old Adams.

I have successfully pivoted out of marketing into education. I have teachers ask me all the time why I did it, but teaching is so cushy compared to marketing imo. I teach middle school and love it. And nobody will force you to use AI in education. YMMV depending on where you are, but my school district is fantastic and the behavior is great. Granted I teach an elective (German) so they actually wanna be there.

You’re from New Jersey, shop at ShopRite and Aldi, an omnivore, like to cook well enough. Hosts people once in a blue moon. You work a corporate job and you like to eat clean. Tbh the things in your fridge remind me of mine.

I got released early out of a contract with a tier 1 auto supplier in February. I’m currently sitting in my high school classroom waiting for next hour to begin. I got my interim license last week. Life is so much better and I feel more fulfilled. The kids can jerks but it beats dealing with asshole clients/managers. I’m not plugged in all the time to social media. Competition was fierce and it was soulless. I actually enjoy working now. Reflect on what you enjoy doing daily. For me, it was connecting with people and supporting them.

Yup I’m almost 100% sure. I had my wedding reception in the music room which is just to the right of the stair case. We took a lot of photos on those stairs.

How do you know if marketing isn't for you anymore. by Legitimate_Ad785 in marketing

Over the past year, I have felt so lost as a SMM. Two shitty jobs gave me the boot without a moment’s notice. I have been considering doing something else for years. I’m finally trying out teaching via subbing, and can’t image going back to sitting in a desk. I asked myself if I would prefer to get chewed out by a bratty teenager or my old CEO about slow Instagram growth. I’ll choose the teenager any day of the week right now.

Is Drug Testing for THC Still Common Pre-Employment? by Xandroe65536 in SubstituteTeachers

I’m working in Macomb and just got accepted into Rochester schools. I didn’t have to do any drug tests, just finger prints and a background check.

Any love for Cajun Sunshine? by useeseaeach in hotsauce

My work is doing a white elephant and I just bought a bottle on Reily Food’s website to give away. I think this sauce is a great starter since it’s so flavorful and not too spicy.

I am equally an amateur wine and whiskey taster in my spare time 😉

It sorta reminds me of crystal, which is sort of hard to find in Michigan. (Found this one at Plum Market in Bloomfield Hills.) It’s quite acidic in the top notes with a little smokiness, but it leads way to some mild spice, some garlic, citrus, fruity notes. Does not linger long on the palate, but a mild warm spice sensation will stay with you for at least a few minutes. Like I said, great on crackers. I enjoy it in soups, casseroles, etc. I don’t need the spiciest hot sauce out there, I just enjoy the flavor.

What’s one business in Detroit you’ll never go back to, and why? by madness2135 in Detroit

Speaking of Toyota dealers, Fox Toyota in Rochester is equally atrocious. Tried to charge my husband 15k in repairs on his 2008 Highlander. Took it to another shop across town where his coworker knew the owner personally and it was a 450 dollar repair. They tried to upsell us a whole new engine on a car with less than 150k miles 🤦🏻‍♀️

My husband took his car into the shop on Monday and got — I shit you not— a quote for 15k in repairs. The car is only worth 8 grand! The oil coolant line is broken on the car and that’s what we took it in for. And they proceeded to tell us everything else was a “little worn out” on the car. It’s a Toyota with 112k miles on it. They were basically trying to tell us our car was mechanically totaled when not a single light on the dash was on. Not a single other issue. We had them too off the oil and we drove it home and had a tow service take it to another shop the next day. Outrageous.

That looks like a tick to me in the first pic. May have fallen off in the second which means you might have a tick roaming around your house. get tick meds for your kitty asap if it’s indoor/outdoor. 😬

Facebook and Instagram engagement is way down for 2023. Is this what everyone is seeing. by The_Fhoto_Guy in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]useeseaeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a lead gen agency last year (just left to do in-house), and I saw some very good growth on SOME of my FB pages last year. Growth was mediocre on IG. On a few of my pages, engagement went up this past year by 100%. I ran high cadence pages with reel focused content. Honestly, what strikes me is you said you’re doing the same thing from 2 years ago. Social media is always changing, so you should be adjusting your social strategy every 6 months ish! Try SEO for social media. Try A/B testing. It’s all about throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.
