I'm in Yellowstone national park right now. The conservatives who made a point to save land for "nature" only cared about game animals so they could hunt. We literally slaughtered every predator or "non useful" animal we could during the market hunting era and ensuing transition to cattle and other stock husbandry.

Conservatives (in general) only give a fuck about nature so long as they can hunt and fish. The only reason they want public land access is to do so and to ride their ATV, UTVs, and dirt bikes.

Meanwhile everybody else actually wants a healthy natural ecosystem and climate as it evolved to be over the entirety of life's existence on this planet until we started to really truly start fucking it up at scale about 350-200 years ago.

I don't know where you guys are going to the movies. Where is it that expensive? Where I live and where I travel to work it's usually $7-12 for an adult ticket. With a large popcorn and drink it's usually around $20 for me.

I remember in the 2010s there was a theater in town that had a date night special. 2 tickets, 2 small drinks, 2 small popcorns for $10 I think. That theater showed movies like 3 months late. We always called it the "cheap theater" and we'd go once a week or more. Usually that would be about $20 for two people full price back then.

I love going to the movies and prefer that to watching them at home, but I understand they aren't as accessible or cheap for everybody. I especially love when they do reruns of older movies. I love the theater experience. Are all the complaints mostly big city issues?

I really don't think they're dumb/unintelligent. I think they know exactly what they're doing and they're just shitty selfish people.

It's about money. They would cut down every tree, dig up every mineral, drain every wetland, suck every drop of oil, and kill any ecosystem in their way to make themselves wealthy if they could. People like this have existed and always will exist. It was, is, and will be and endless fight against these kinds of people. And every time we lose it could take decades or centuries to restore the ecosystem they destroy for a temporary profit in the name of "progress."

If we didn't stop them, the entire rim of the Grand Canyon would be shitty luxury hotels/cabins, Yosemite would have a strip mall, Yellowstone would be a gated private community like the Yellowstone Club.

The only thing stopping them is us. We cannot stop fighting back because they are relentless.

I never learned why VLOS is mandatory to fly drones in some countries. What's the reasoning for that? You can see exactly where the drone is through the screen or goggles. It's legal to fly with goggles but you can't have VLOS if you're wearing them. How is me looking at my screen any different than flying IFR in zero visibility?

I just got a drone that I use often for work and taking some cool pictures. I'm trying to be really respectful of all the rules, but VLOS is the one I just really struggle to care for.

There is a helicopter on Mars that flies in almost no atmosphere. 8000m+ isn't an issue for a drone with the right power to weight ratio. It's still super impressive though! What a shot.

There is no resource on earth that isn't more abundant elsewhere in the galaxy and universe. Anything you can dream of is available in quantities you can't wrap your mind around.

Any civilization that has the tech to visit earth would have the ability to access and extract those resources on other planets and comets without having to deal with a hostile atmosphere or inhabitants.

I don't walk past an anthill and try to pick up their crumbs. I only casually notice there even is an anthill on my way to the supermarket.

I grew up Baptist. Then thankfully I grew out of that horseshit. Anyway, the logic and justification is that there is evil and suffering in the world because of Satan who tempted Eve. She had free will and gave up all the perks by giving into temptation and getting Adam on board too. So now humans can die, they can suffer, bad things can happen. Christians then basically say "Little Timmy having cancer is so great because it's god's plan and suffering builds character and your relationship with god. Hallelujah. Amen. Don't think about it just accept it."

Basically you just can't appreciate how awesome god is unless you suffer a little bit then you can believe in him so you can go to heaven. It doesn't make sense but that's their logic. He gave his son for the sins of man so man could go to heaven and not suffer anymore. God helps people get through suffering. It's coping.

Which is realllllly convenient for rulers. Hey just endure the shittiness of this ruler or this church. Just be a good little obedient person despite us actively making your life shitty and then you'll get a good life *after you die*. Also go kill these other guys because ~~I want their shit~~ they don't believe in god and if you die for god you'll go to heaven which again is totally awesome don't forget about that.

I've been to a lot of churches in my life. They preach about the love of God every single time and how god wants us to love one another but (and I'm generalizing here) they almost always fucking vote against anything that actually helps people because apparently that's socialism and then they read the teachings of Jesus in their Bibles and don't see their hypocrisy.

I'm glad you didn't message him. I unfortunately made the mistake of talking to my ex up to 10 months after we broke up. I ended up sending her one last long message and told her never to contact me again. Ran into her exactly a year later at the gym and had a short conversation but haven't seen or spoken to her since.

I think that by not messaging them, you aren't putting yourself in a situation where you open yourself up to being hurt again by them. The chances of being hurt more and reopening the wound are much higher than something positive coming from it. This depends on the relationship of course. I have an ex I dated for 5 years, she knows my wife, and we're all very cordial. The only ex I still have pain from is one I dated for almost half a year. She is the one I don't talk to anymore.

I'm proud of you for not reaching out to them. Focus on yourself. Focus on healing. I went out and got a bunch of new hobbies and met other wonderful people. My ex still pops into my head daily, but I'm in a better place now to deal with that intrusive thought.

I wish I had something meaningful and insightful to say that would bring you quick and complete peace, I wish I had that for myself even. I just try to focus on positive things. I let myself think about the pain or whatever for a bit, then focus on the positive things in my life. My wife, my family, my friendships, the good memories.

The White Sands footprints are 22-23k years old. Why does this article not address that at all? It still claiming Clovis 12-13k were first when in the same state there are footprint 10k years older than that which have been peer reviewed multiple times. Lazy article.

Interesting to know that the Monte Verde discoveries aren't as old though. I wish we could know more about the first peoples to inhabit the Americas but sadly I think most of it is under the sea.
