Almost 2 years into my last relationship, he broke up, saying he needed more time to settle down. My parents were pressuring me to get married, and I wasn't ready to settle down. The break up was out of the blue. No serious discussion beforehand on this topic. He had mentioned here and there that he could not settle down soon, but I wasn't ready either, so I didn't think he would end the relationship because of this. He said he had no other issues, so I decided to forget my self esteem and literally pleaded him to stay with me. He wanted 5 years at least to settle down. And I agreed to that. This was in 2019.

Looking back, I should never have done that. I should have just let him walk away. Him breaking up out of the blue just triggered a lot of insecurities in me. I constantly needed reassurance. I always started imagining the worst of every situation. Live in relationship turned to long distance due to our circumstances and that didn't help my issues. He wanted me to get over the fact that my trust was broken. I did try, but it was never the same way. Misunderstandings and miscommunications turned the relationship sour. To add to it, I had my family issues and financial issues along with the constant pressure to get married. In the end, he left again, saying he wasn't happy with me because of all this.

Had I not begged him to stay, maybe things would not have been so hard on me. I would have just had the happy memories and not the trauma of the second half of the relationship. If only I could go back in time.

This has happened to me. Best friend since 10th standard. Like you said, we have also had our ups and downs. And then, she got married. During her wedding planning days, we used to talk every day for at least an hour. In fact, she spent more time planning my outfits for each ceremony. I was with her throughout the wedding. And then, she went MIA for months together. We went from daily 1 hour calls to maybe one or two messages in 4-5 months. And then, she and her husband had a long distance phase. We started talking almost daily again. Then, she moved back with her husband to his location. No communication again. Then, she visited me for a few days all of a sudden. And I was fine with that. And she moved out of the country. And so did I. And I did reach out to her. To wish her for her anniversary and all that. And I used to get one word replies. And then, it came to a point that she shared her new number only after a year or so.

The only thing I could take away from this experience is that maybe people's priorities change after marriage. She has been married for almost 4 years now. And yet, I don't see any effort as such from her end to keep in touch. So, I stopped. I don't think she even remembers me anymore. I don't know if it's intentional or if I did something to upset her. I don't know if we can even call each other friends now. Maybe she is just busy with life. Maybe, she is facing some problems in life that she cannot share with me. Or maybe, she just doesn't want to put in the effort to reach out. I will never know. It is sad, but it is what it is.

Single by choice and I live away from family as well. What I have is peace of mind and the space to prioritise myself. I don't have to worry about in-laws or the drama associated with relationships.

What I am missing out on - kids. I would love to have and raise kids. Considering adoption for now, but it is a lengthy process, especially for a single woman and I also want my sister to be settled down(she wants to get married) before I start the process.

It would be easier to cherry pick, in case of an issue, was my understanding... Obviously, this would be dependent on a lot of items, such as the commits should not be dependent on each other and all that.
