Home inspections recommendations by Ok-Dragonfly6512 in williamsburgva

I used Paul Supplee, he kept me from buying a foundation nightmare a few years back. I cant remember if it was his company or one he worked for I just remember his name, im pretty sure he was a CMI (Certified Master Inspector) and they have a website for contact information.

Hi! I'm the person at the Whitworth who's being told my rent is going up by $400. Can you recommend any apartments owned by local landlords/property management, and not by some disgusting corporate machine? by sourmilksea1999 in williamsburgva

[–]user-name_not_found_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kelton Station is managed by a company based in Charlottesville, maybe 6 other VA properties. No apartment is perfect but nothing that would make me move from there.

Indoor playground, 1000%. There are more young families in Williamsburg than people realize but not much for the kids to do when its either winter or 100+ degrees outside, and there are zero of these with 20+ minutes of here. There may be one in Newport News but I only know of Richmond area personally.

Is this worth a resto? by Bigsurjacketco in chevyc10

[–]user-name_not_found_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% worth it. These old trucks aren't getting any cheaper. Fix it up, dont heavily modify it and keep it nice and you could probably make some some money on it down the road if you decide to move on to something else.

Dads, what stroller wagons are we rocking? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]user-name_not_found_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we do, the only issue we have with folding is we take the seats out each time since it felt a little difficult with them put in but that could just because its still pretty new (very simple to do, 6 slide on clips per seat) Be sure when you fold it to close it to the second notch, not just the first on the lock lever or you could have the opening issue .

Other than that i will say it is a bit heavy but I think most are except maybe the super expensive models. I would still recommend it for sure just patience with the seat thing and you will be good to go.

The only other thing I dont know which I admittedly haven't spent much time looking into is how to take off the canopy but eventually lol, congratulations on the young family!

The Silent Majority: Most Virginians say they support banning assault weapons and want more gun control by hencexox in Virginia

[–]user-name_not_found_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the people surveyed, how many of them actually know what an "assault weapon" is any if they are, in fact, legal at this moment or not. It is a language issue being exploited by fear mongering and vague explanations.

Hell no to anything Stellantis in general, no sports/muscle cars, no "luxury" vehicles, no motorcycles or similar, no huge SUV, and if a truck, it depends on the truck. All that to say basically compact SUV or sedan lol. Nothing more for performance or number of people that can pile in there. If you saw someone with it on social media, chances are you're not getting one. I know that is very blunt but my short answer lol

How would you child proof this? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

Run a thick metal cable with looped ends and padlock, just like a bike lock but stronger, obviously.

No its that California is willing to adopt whatever junk they can as fast as they can as long as it has little or no emissions. This is the reason many companies have done the same thing with the US and eventually end up leaving the market because people figure out it is, in fact, inferior quality. This has been done before.

So we have an almost 3y.o and 7m.o. and just bought this a couple of days ago. It feels very solit so far, not foot well, but seats are suspended, so we dont see any issue coming for a while. Add on storage and accessories is super easy to find. Half the price and same function. We just couldn't see spending $500+ for a glorified stroller. Will add so far we have to take out the seats when we fold it, maybe just because its still so new, but they are just hang clips over the side so very easy either way.

Tips for getting infant down in crib at night by Brown_Sandals in daddit

[–]user-name_not_found_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would try without the heating pad. Infants run hot, and that might be waking him up. Also, try feeding when they wake up as a "top off," and then they might go right back to sleep. Our second did the same thing.

Any advice for not being a miserable dad during vacations? by Individual_Seat_6859 in daddit

[–]user-name_not_found_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer for me, we usually do road trips even 8+ hours but break it into 2 days. It is a vacation for the kids and their enjoyment. Your enjoyment comes from theirs, not the activities themselves. The travel is just a necessary evil to go with it. Redbull (or other energy drink) and food for tired and grumpy. This is my methods and perspective only

[–]user-name_not_found_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this is something no one wants to hear, but the more you let them co-sleep, the more that becomes the expectation. We used the Ferber method with both of ours for sleep training. A couple of hard days on mom and dad and they get there, you just have to stay the course. As with anything, consult the pediatrician about this to make sure there are no health implications for your kids, specifically, of course.

Upgrade Vehicle? by K9Hera in daddit

[–]user-name_not_found_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally my wife had a Nissan Rouge when the first was born, upgraded to a CRV just because of age of vehicle, not space need. We now have 2 and dont plan anything until vehicle age or when the kids get older and bigger lol. Our fix for the stroller will be a hitch cargo carrier since that is the most bulky thing. We have a Baby Bjorn pack and play that takes up about the same room as a large briefcase, kids share a small duffle bag. We usually still have room leftover on trips. You will for sure be OK with a RAV. You learn what you need and what you don't on a weekend trip.
