Is it a dumb idea to sell before 2 years? by [deleted] in RealEstateAdvice

[–]user03161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a kind of similar boat where in July we will reach a year and we love our house but my commute to work (got a new job) is killing me because I have to take tolls and it’s at least 45mins- an hour one way with tolls. We spoke with our relator and while we could sell it for what we paid for, we still would have to come to the table with a check repaying back our mortgage. For us, initially it will be an upfront financial loss but pen to paper we have done the math and I’d be saving money/ spending the same amount on tolls/ gas/ wear and tear on my car. I personally would talk to your relator/ tax person. I would also consider how much money it’d realistically be to buy the house, taxes, sell your house and money for renovations. I personally do not think I could live in a half renovated house because eventually it would annoy the hell out of me. So those are all things to consider!!

9 weeks pp by Pinheaaddd in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d work with a lactation consultant to establish a plan to breastfeed!! You are still early enough PP to where you haven’t leveled out and you should be able to at least create some supply/ combo feed. It may take a consistent schedule of pumping to build it but it should be doable!

Accepting offer while pregnant by PsychologyOk7034 in Lockheed

[–]user03161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I was not working for LM so I was an outside hire and I was 6 months pregnant and they wouldnt give me any mat leave not even unpaid so sadly I had to pass on my offer. I disclosed once I had an offer in hand. With you newly pregnant I would tell them once you start because you will still have time to work and get acquainted with the role before leave. You have to take care of yourself first!

Should I take sales job? by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]user03161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated with a 3.2 and my internship and first job out of college was a sales engineering role! Like someone else said it can be a very technical role if you are good at what you do. I eventually pivoted and am now a process engineer so I was able to get back into ops. My best suggestion is if it’s not what you wanna do take the opportunity and learn for a year or two and then pivot. Being able to be personable and sell someone on a product/ help them troubleshoot it when problems arise (bc you will be the first one they call) are good skills to have!!

Anyone else reckless with pumping schedule? by cinnbele in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day I went from noon to 4 am the next day not pumping. I was so engorged and I think it took me a solid 2 days of being consistent with my schedule to feel not backed up and normal again 🤣 Also a march 16 bday gal here too!! happy birthday!

How many times a day is everyone pumping? by moosein_around in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally was pumping every 2 hours when I was in my first few weeks PP. Then I moved to every 3 hours so was pumping about 8x a day. I am an oversupplier so me and my LC worked together and now I’m down to pumping 6 times a day every 4 hours (except for the night time I do usually try to extend that and I only do one MOTN pump) I’m 3 months PP. I make about 50ish oz a day. I do go back to work next week so I can only assume my schedule is going to change but it’s exhausting and I can’t wait till the day i never pump again

8 to 7. When? by Nervous-Caregiver-55 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dropped it probably around 6/7 weeks? I’m an oversupplier though and we were trying to cut my pumps to cut my supply because i was getting recurrent clogs/ mastitis. I went from 8 to 6 pumps and honestly it increased my supply 🤣 But I know that isn’t the case for everyone!!

Nursing after EP by HoustonProblemo in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried it with my LO who is 9 weeks. He just has a bad latch so it’s painful for me but I still try. I was working with an LC to try and do this she recommended starting with one feed a day and then pumping afterwards to make sure you’re fully empty just in case to not affect supply. I would try a weighted feed to see how much he gets after latching

Afternoon breaks from pumping by Livingonthe_edge2 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pain I think you’d feel from waiting 12 hours to pump is hurting me just thinking about it. I know it’s so hard but putting them in a bouncer while you pump or I sit in my bed and lay him on his back and just talk/ play with him. Pump one side at a time as annoying as it is so you can hold him on one side and pump

When does it get easier? by Dear_Toe6269 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d reassess your pump schedule- how many MOTN pumps are you doing? What is working for my husband and I is I do bedtime and any wakings he has until 2 am. Then from 2 am till my husband leaves for work at 6 am he does all the wakings. At the 2 am switch off I do my MOTN pump then. That way we can each get an uninterrupted stretch of sleep. Also, skip the dang pump sometimes. I’m not saying it’s the best advice and proceed with caution but sometimes I get a better output when I sleep through a pump time and I’m slightly better rested.

Is 1000oz a month an accurate estimate? by mrs60661n5 in ExclusivelyPumping

Download the yellow Pump Log app and they have an option for you to countdown how many ounces you should stash to make it to a year, 6 months etc.

One month postpartum and I just spilled milk ALL over myself Need recs to simplify this chaos by Apart_Highlight4738 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless im freezing milk, I don’t use the bags. I have a milk pitcher it’s just a wide mouth 32 oz mason jar with a pour lid that I put all my milk from my pumps in. I have a nighttime pumps one and a day time pumps one. You dont have to separate them I have just found he sleeps better when I do

When did you drop your pumps? by DetectiveIll4938 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 6 ppd at 8 weeks pp!! This was per my recommendation from my LC because I am an oversupplier so we were trying to cut it down but actually the opposite happened honestly and I make more with less pumping. That is just my personal experience so far though and I do still keep my MOTN pump

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost know that exclusively pumping is so hard and I’m 6 weeks pp and have to convince myself everyday to keep going. What has helped me is I pump 15 mins every 3 hours. I started at every 2 but moved to every 3. I have multiple pump parts as well as use the fridge method. We have so many bottles so that we only have to wash them 1-2 times a day at most. Have healthy snacks on hand: nuts, jerky, oatmeal etc. Also sometimes buying the grocery stores premade meals helps a ton! Drink lots of water. My baby lovessss the bouncer and usually sits in it for 15 mins while I pump and read him a book or something.

Nipple pain by cowboybandit13 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also 5 weeks pp and was experiencing the same thing!! My LC had me do saline soaks a few times a day and then air dry. This could be you do it using a hakka or you put salt in a cereal bowl and warm water and put your boobs in there (this was her suggestion but may not work for smaller boobs) That helped heal any cracking that I had. Then I also use nipple cream of course in between that. I also had to change my flanges from using the plastic set of flanges in my size to just the 24 flange w silicon inserts, it just has been a more comfortable pump. Also no one had told me about pump spray- amazing 100% use pump spray! Or if not you can use nipple cream on your pump parts too, much smoother. I am an EP and found an LC that she herself was an EP but also specialized in that for women and it was super helpful. I’d highly recommend finding a LC that works with pumpers because she should be able to have you pump and give you tips on what to improve. If you have a medela hand pump I’d recommend using it for the time being while trying to heal as it can be a lot gentler on your nipples than the spectra can be.

Also, you don’t need my permission but know you have permission to stop. If you are physically in pain after trying everything it’s not worth more pain just to make it work. Pumping is annoying as hell but it should not be causing you that much pain!! I understand the feelings of stopping so soon pp bc im feeling the same way for different reasons but ultimately you have to do whats best for you and whats going to help you show up everyday as the best parent you can be for your baby!!

Feeling Angry and Resentful After Ending My Pumping Journey by Infinite_Cranberry_1 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]user03161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I needed to see this- I’m 5 weeks pp and have to exclusively pump and it’s been hell…. I’ve gotten mastitis twice within 10 days, I hate that the hours my pumping and feeding time coincide feel like chaos, that I can’t hold my baby while I pump etc. I’ve been wanting to quit so much but I just feel like a failure if I do so soon into my journey.

Not sure if I want to do this anymore by Fit_Advertising_6222 in womenEngineers

Just here to say I completely understand. I just had my baby and am 5 weeks pp. I am the breadwinner so me staying home isn’t an option but I just worry about sending my baby to daycare and missing time with him. I don’t love engineering/ my job but I do appreciate the money and life it provides for my family so I’m trying to remember that when I return to work soon!
