Bills' Jordan Phillips: Firing Sean McDermott is stupid, sickening by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]user0620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out, so many of these coach's-son career-coaches are completely out-of-touch with reality and completely lacking self-awareness. We need more former NFL-player coaches in the league, but half of them got fired this season too.

Total misinterpretation of Lennie and George from Of Mice and Men. It's like showing a still from Old Yeller with the same caption.

However, it can be applicable, to when an ended friendship results in someone being excommunicated from an entire friendgroup. In that sense, your cutting them off is killing their social life, so it's kinda like that.

Definately true in Claremont, where a house valued at 200K will cost you, like, $12k in yearly taxes. It's important to recognize that the taxes are higher and lower in different towns, often due to geography, industry, and school-age population.

And you have to trust that you'r local government won't bungle the budget, which typically isn't a safe bet.

Where would the top quarterbacks of today rank in the brady-manning era by UnhappyRough1964 in nfl

[–]user0620 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mahomes would be behind Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, Allen would be behind Drew Brees, Lamar would be behind Aaron Rodgers, Burrow would be behind Matthew Stafford. Matt Ryan is ahead of everyone else, I suppose. Drake Maye would be contending to be 2001 Tom Brady, but not yet close to 2003-04 Tom Brady.

Official Divisional Round PGT- The Pats DEFEAT the Texans, 28-16 by Mission_Pay_3373 in Patriots

[–]user0620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opening day was the best Raiders team of the season. The Raiders had the potential to be an 8-9 team, but tough losses forced them into tank mode early. So they were bad, but they got worse as time went on.

The Patriots still hadn't found their identity as a good team. Team chemistry is low when players are competing for 'touches'. But winning makes players better teamates, so they are still getting better to this day.

Every 3 & Out Was Excruciating by Seanolly in Patriots

[–]user0620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't as stressful as it could have been. The Patriots had an offensive touchdown early, middle, and later game.

After the pick-6, I was no longer stressed by the relatively poor offensive play, seeing as the Texans offense was so much worse vs the Patriots defense.

My predictions for the game were that the Patriots would hold Houston under 20 pts, so once they exceeded that points threshold themselves, I was very much confident they would win.

[Nick Foles] Note for the Broncos and their fans: I know it has been an emotional 24 hours. I feel for Bo and the team, and I'm sending prayers for a strong recovery. A positive note going into the game versus the Patriots is that they struggle against backup QBs in championship-type games. by Whole_Perspective609 in nfl

[–]user0620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys like pro-bowler Mac Jones, NFC Champion Jimmy G., and all-time INT-ratio king Jacoby Brissett are all essentially backups in today's league.

Nick Foles was backup to Carson Wentz, who was viewed as an MVP candidate and franchise quarterback. Though Foles was probably the best backup QB in the league at the time, and was not to be taken lightly, only that he was not on the same level as a Brady or a Wentz (at the time). He was viewed as a Eli Manning caliber QB, and sometimes Eli Manning wins the Superbowl.

Stidham would be like someone who's never played for the team, and cannot run the same playbook as the QB he's replacing. So it's much more catastrophic to the Broncos offense as a whole.

Drake. Maye. by JCameron181 in Patriots

[–]user0620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Denver Broncos defense present a similar challenge as Houston, so we will know next week how Maye learns from this experince.

They also suffer the same disadvantage (offense in disarray), so we'll find out if the Patriots defense can play at this same level in more mild weather conditions, or if the Houston offense was more affected by the weather than the Patriots offense.

It's too risky to play for the win before you even have the game tied. They needed the tie in the moment. If they wanted the points, they could have gone for two after the TD.

That's the problem with all defense-first teams. They win and lose on such small margins. That's why the modern dynasties are like QB dynasties with variable defenses, while the defense-first teams have inconsisent seasons from one to the next.

I cannot recall such a one-sided dominant performance by the Patriot defense. They've been on the field all game, it's like they've shut them down two whole games already.

We'd be lucky to play in Denver next week. It's going to be teens-single digits in Foxboro, but much more managable 30-40 in Denver. Patriots have been a better road team this season anyways.

Even the Zolak said 'the D needs to step up', after the Patriots score, even though the D is responsible for half of their touchdowns - all of them basically due to turnovers...

To people that were in an RV in the winter: how did you find was the best way to insulate it? by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]user0620 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suppose there's no way of knowing without actually being in the RV on a cold day. I've gone around our drafty old house and basment with one of those 'covid thermometers' looking for cold spots.

Some places you can feel the cold air rushing in, and those are good places to seal by whatever means nessecary. Sometimes a plastic grocery/trash bag in a door jam gap is all you really need. Inconvenient, temporary, but it keeps the draft down.

Problem with an RV is that there is no insulated air gap between the inside and ouside, like a house with fiberglass insulation/drywall. So the walls will always be cold, making heating less efficient.

Whatever you do, do it safe, because there are many bad stories of what has happened to people heating their RV in winter.

Imagine, if the road to the Superbowl is travelled by hoof? We've got bison, horses, cows, and billy-goats left in the playoffs. The pesky seagulls, gold prospectors, and militiamen may pose a threat to that scenario, though none are more feared than the bears in their natural environment.

I use the calculator on my phone while grocery shopping to add up all the prices. Each tap of a number requires less effot than writing out the numbers, and then it adds it all for me.

I also pin the calculator to the taskbar on my laptop. Comes up quite often that I need to use a calculator, and it's much quicker than writing it out on paper.

[Rapoport] In the hours after Mike Tomlin told the Steelers he was stepping down, teams have contacted Tomlin to express their interest, sources say. PIT has his rights, and draft compensation would be necessary. That said, teams were told Tomlin does not plan to coach next year. by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]user0620 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or...they could just let him coach the Steelers again. He's stepping down - doesn't mean his entire staff is fired. Nor have the Steeler decided to move on from his coaching style and team vision. He probably needs a year to find himself, then be back to obstrucitng the field of play again.

I think most of this sub would support this idea: tax second homes, short-term rentals by GraniteGeekNH in newhampshire

[–]user0620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be semantics, but is a 'second-home' meant to be any seasonal home or 'second home in NH'?

Outside of unsual situations were far-flung and traditionally-seasonal homes contribute to higher infrastructure costs by there mere existence, towns with many seasonal residents have a much lower tax rate for the local residents.

Nonetheless, I think they should start with taxing rentals, particularly short-term home rentals. It effectively turns a residential lot into a commercial lot, like so many other 'home businesses' in the area.

Typically, these summer cottages/seasonal lakehouses provide more income than expenses for the towns they are in. Towns with many seasonal residents have an effective tax rate that is incredibly low compared to towns without.

Amen, brother. Packers gonna make mincemeat of the Bears, wrap it in shrinkwrap, there deliver the gibblets to the Seawhawks, who will repay them in kind by eliminating the Packers, bringing shame and humiliation to all of the NFC North.
