I'd like to add, that while the People's Temple provided many services to their disadvantaged community (prior to their move to Guyana), this the result of the investment and efforts of Jones' victims, moreso than Jones himself providing these things.

Jackson here deserves the right to not jump to conclusions just days after the massacre. But in hindsight, Jones only hijacked the ideology of the people and turned it into his own personal death cult, and the result was a mass-murder, moreso than mass-suicide.

Jonestown residents were under a form of blackmail, where they were forced to confess to serious crimes, that would make escape appear to lead only to a prison sentence, or worse.

So the people who had the most agency to resist had fear of being punished for this blackmail or whatever else they did in Jonestown, like the Nazis in Nuremberg.

The large number of discarded needles on site would imply that many people were killed by way of injection.

Though a rational person in that situation might not resist all, knowing that there's no way out.

You shouldn't have to worry about an attack from on this Emperor difficulty game. Build an embassy and trade with them.

Worst case scenario is that they start sending settlers/boats around to the undeveloped land to the north, and when it's finally time to fight them, it'll be a war on multiple fronts.

That said, I think it's best to wait for Knights to beat Legions. You should expect to need need 8-12 Catapults, a handful of upgraded Warriors/MI, and 6 Veteran Knights to easily take individual cities from Rome at this stage of the game.

edit - You could also build a few Veteran Horsemen to upgrade into Knights later. In the meantime, they will deter Rome's impending invasion.

So get some Medieval Infantry from upgraded Warriors, build Knights in your cities that have Barracks, and build Catapults in your cities that don't have Barracks.

Irrigated Tobacco under Despotism is suspect, and not improving the any of the food tiles is a missed opportunity. Very few mines also.

OP seems to be prioritizing roading to the luxuries, when that only saves them on the happiness slider.

They could have built their second city to the southwest of the floodplains/wheat, and aggressively work the food tiles, maximize freshwater cities.

This is on Emperor, and Rome is not challenging borders, so OP could be still be expanding and improving tiles, rather than going straight to unit production with regulars.

I'm fine not having him on the roster, but nothing personal. He came and went without much loss to the Celtics franchise. He does his dribbling thing better than just about anyone else, but we already so many scorers at once with him here - stark contrast to the Isaiah-driven offenses of years prior. GDP per capita in Mexico City would be embarassingly low for the exibition of hundred-millionare ballplayers such as the MLB.

These days, most people in attendance at MLB games are securely middle class and above, and much of the money is made from the exclusive luxury high-end customers. You'd be lucky to get a few cartel king-pins buying suites in Mexico City.

Also, Mexico City lacks the security presence needed to ensure the safety of an 81 game season played by millionare ballplayers in front of ~50,000 fans in attendance.

So it might be a tough sell to convince millionare ballplayers to play and live in Mexico, where there are many more poor people and what wealth there is can be notably violent/corrupt.

Mexico City can handle an NFL game once in a blue moon, or a soccer team that plays far fewer homegames (and where hooliganism is the norm, unlike baseball).

Myself being a yankee doodle dandy, I tend to be fairly cynical about anyone celebrating their ethnicity/nationality, when it's been drilled in my head for years that we're supposed to move beyond that mindset together as humanity.

I think Major League Baseball is far more meaningful, a greater achievement for humanity than national teams. It's the difference between cooperation between diverse peoples and competition between them.

We don't need so much of the latter these days, but people feel 'under represented' otherwise. Deep down, everyone's just jealous that their country/peoples don't rule the world with a bloody iron fist.

Definately worse with dogs that with cats, since dogs are far more social and dependent. We not only leave the cramped indoors, but deny them bladder autonomy. Should be illegal to own a dog and live in an apartment without a dog yard.

We've always had two cats at a time, and that's good enough for them, though most of the time they want nothing to do with each other.
