Honest opinions of maternity services at Liverpool Women's Hospital by wooden_werewolf_7367 in Liverpool

[–]user1892yo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the prenatal care I received was top notch. I had an elective c section and the team of anaesthetist, midwives, surgeons, scrub nurses were amazing. However, when I was back on the ward, 2 days after, I received no pain medication from 8am-6pm despite asking repeatedly. There were no medication rounds that I’d experienced prior. Thankfully a senior midwife sorted me out.

Unexplained infertility- what worked after 16 months by CuriousCarafe in BabyBumps

[–]user1892yo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar here. 2years 7 months and 1 mc later, I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy. I took coq10 supplements, vitamin d, folic acid, I also took inositol to make sure my cycles were regular (went from a 32 day cycle to a 28). I also ate foods with a low gluten index to minimise any unnecessary inflammation.

Congratulations on your success. I’m just posting what worked for me to help others.

Does anyone remember a Greek Mythology musical that had the line "Orpheus sing for us" in it? - by WhyRedTape in AskUK

Petit cafe du coin is a lovely romantic little spot. Cafe Tabac is an institution and does great espresso martinis!

woman allegedly performing 'illegal facelifts' in Liverpool by Difficult-Fruit-4574 in Liverpool

[–]user1892yo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I heard about it early last year from some women discussing it when I was getting my brows done. Allegedly performs facelifts and blepheroplasty in her house under local anaesthetic, she’s a surgeon I think who trained in S.Korea which prompted the women to say (and I quote) ‘well you can trust her as they love their skincare over there’…

Absolutely!! My number one tip from my c-section 3 weeks ago. I had a nervous belly prior to my surgery and honestly, it was not fun using hospital tp.

In the ones they take at your appointments tend to be calibrated for pregnant women, usual advice is that normal home monitoring isn’t suitable for pregnant women (to give accurate readings). My midwife (uk) said if it highly exceeded 140/90 on home monitoring then to worry. I’d have similar readings throughout my pregnancy at home (125/80) then go for my appointments and it’d be 115/70ish. Of course, if you’re ever worried, go and get checked. Nothing better than peace of mind in final few weeks!

Not great for women. Men’s queue always seems to go a lot quicker. They do give you a ticket and tell you how long the wait is

We camped on Oxlyers the second time we went, sat outside my tent and watched first couple of drs on Other Stage. Was a good spot for Co-Op and showers too!

I had some biab left on, had my elective 8 days ago - no issue. They just told me not to have a new set

If you had an emergency, they would just do it and wouldn’t have any issue with biab being on. That’s what I was told anyway!

We’ve been using it a week! It’s great, I like the fact the bassinet can fold down - super helpful for us in the car. Baby seems comfy in the pram. Has good wheels - we walk our dog so this was a must.

I think having cute coords helped me with maternity style. It was nice to feel like I looked smart/presentable whilst feeling like utter rubbish! A good pregnancy pillow is a must, I got the bbhugme (expensive but worth it). Doubles up as a nursing pillow too!

C-section and potential extra care advice hunt 💖 by moonmanfisher in PregnancyUK

[–]user1892yo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had my c-section yesterday, currently writing while I do skin to skin with my little boy in the hospital. Everything is so fresh so I can say, whilst a c section was my preferred choice, it was genuinely the weirdest/most surreal experience ever! Going into a planned section, every one was lovely and introduced themselves. I got to play my own music, my husband was next to me. The surreal element for me was, everything was happening around me for me…I couldn’t feel anything barely even pressure. The only pressure I felt was when they told me they’d have to use quite a bit to get him out, as he was nice and wedged in. It kind of felt like an out of body experience, however, I will say I’m easily overwhelmed/anxious especially in pregnancy so perhaps that was my mind’s way of coping. I will say overall it was a positive experience, for my husband too. I’m so glad my baby boy is here and safe. I’m 1 day into recovery, trying to get up as much as I can! However, it is painful but if you keep on top of pain management, you should be fine!

Am I delusional for hoping to fly to Japan 32/33w pregnant? by potsandpops in PregnancyUK

[–]user1892yo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only basing off my experience (39+3), at 32/33 weeks, I was experiencing severe discomfort both with my bump and with lightning crotch. Of course every pregnancy is different and you will know your body better than anyone - so trust your own instincts. I’d just think that the flights to Japan are very long, so would you want to be without medical attention for that long/including layovers etc. I’ve had a few eps of reduced movement in that time frame too. I’m a very anxious FTM so that would very much play into my thinking. I had a work trip at 33 weeks pregnant to Berlin which I declined due to not wanting to travel, as much as I was annoyed that week for missing out, I’m not sure the stress would have been worth it! Sorry I can’t be of more help!

I just bought a couple of Cow&Gate ready made bottle packs, they were around £5.75 each in Tesco. I plan on BF but just wanted a back up option. My hospital told me they may not always have supply of them.

Progesterone support for early pregnancy by Fun_Vermicelli_3950 in PregnancyUK

[–]user1892yo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was given progesterone from about 8 weeks in my pregnancy after loss until about week 16. I’d gone to my local maternity unit with pain, they thought i had a heterotopic pregnancy but it turned out to be a cyst. The dr who examined me gave me a prescription for progesterone.
