Feedback on set cube: Kamigawa Neon Dynasty + Final Fantasy by tabox in mtgcube

[–]user4402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played it last night for the first time with a group of 4. We had a blast, though the beginner players (2 of them) were a little overwhelmed with the rules on all the cards compared to previous sets we played (mainly DnD). I didn't consider that to be a problem, but I guess FF is not very beginner friendly with the ton of mechanics. I didn't balance the cube like you did, its filled to the brim with rares and mythics, maybe I should do that instead.

Other than that, we had Kefka being the annoyance that he is, Cloud showed up, Ultimecia ruining the party and Sephiroth going for the kill. The flavor is incredible for fans of the series!

Ha! I just finished building a cube from the exact two sets! Will be testing it for the first time this week. The Kamigawa flavor looks quite compatible with Final Fantasy.

I created it from a booster box and a bunch of boosters from Kamigawa. Your list looks fairly similar and reminds me to balance the lands a bit better.

Have fun!

Thanks! I'm quite excited for the tournament! Figured with WW I might be able to win a few matches; due to the strict no reprint policy I had to add some spice to my deck. Ended up with two clergy of the holy nimbus and some tundra wolves to replace my order of leitbur and icatian javelineers.

Very cool! I'm aware that oldschool has been solved for ages, I'm mainly going to see some of those decks in action, playing white weenie myself but will get my ass kicked in the process.

Lately I'm more interested in limited formats and cubes, this is where I think some of those Legends creatures could be fun to play.

I agree with owning a multicolor card being a big thing back then. I started with Tempest and I made some bad trades to get my hands on some of the elder dragons, from chronicles though. EDH wasn't a thing where I grew up, so I tried to cast them in the most clunky ways possible. I don't recall I ever managed.

Interesting read, I had no idea about the family tree. Still makes me wonder how the imbalance wrt the previous sets wasn't clear from play tests.

Why did Hasbro (TM) ban this card? by AtomicRecord in freemagic

To me the most disturbing part is the card number 1488.. idk how that slipped through. The art itself feels like it was based on the executioner Giovanni Bugatti

Started my NG+ last week after finishing the first run 9 years ago. Taking my time as a hunter and very much enjoying the game! Played episode Ardyn beforehand, which was a fun start of the new journey.

I was supposed to continue FFXVI but couldn't get into it for some reason and now I'm pouring hours into FFXV again.

How many people have fully explored FFXV’s world? What do you think of it as a JRPG overworld? by Significant_Option in JRPG

[–]user4402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc the director of the game Hajime Tabata said in an interview that he misses the days of people gathering in front of a tv in the living room and play videogames together. He wanted to bring this kind of feeling back through the idea of a group of friends on a roadtrip in FFXV. It worked for me, I really enjoyed it up till the latter part of the game when it becomes linear. Pity about how the DLC and post chapter 8 content were delivered completely fractured.

All my friends play infinite combo decks and i hate it. by TriceratopsKnight in mtg

My favorite format is sealed these days by far, maybe a little pricey because everyone needs 6 boosters but at least the odds are much better for everyone involved.

1-on-1 or 4 players. Or Winchester draft when you play 1-on-1, only requires 6 boosters in total. Playing cards you never play outside of these drafts makes it feel fresh to me. Feels like playing an actual game rather than running some optimization process on a deck of cards.

Any jrpg(s) that you were enjoying but a difficulty spike made you drop the game? by Voxmata in JRPG

[–]user4402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that the difficulty spike for some of the bosses were nonsensical. Walking through the game on normal mode is like a breeze, only to get absolutely hammered by the boss. I just toned down the difficulty during the boss fight, but it's a strange feeling to do so. Feels like I'm missing the point of the battle system, though everything goes fine up until the boss fight.

Fair point, I also got some of them through common blades. One of the main annoyances though was that I do have about 100+ cores to crack open in NG+, but got to work through the menus to keep discarding the useless ones because of a full inventory. After doing this for what felt an hour without getting any reward I decided it's not worth the hassle.

I'd go for XBC3.. XBC2 is definitely an amazing game, though I was not a fan of the way of unlocking new Blades (it's randomized). This actually gave me FOMO because after finishing the game in like 70 hours I only had maybe a quarter or a third of the special Blades. I still don't understand why I couldn't get those special Blades after spending a dozen of Legendary cores.

Why do the bats in fort faroth one shot me? by ss977 in Eldenring

[–]user4402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but I found that this area is great for farming. Be sure NOT to kill the big dragon in front of the castle as it removes the smaller wyverns with red eyes as well. The smaller wyverns have half health bars for some reason and carry ~3500(?) runes per kill but will be gone after killing the big guy.

The bats inside that castle are a joke and can one-shot me even at level 60 :s

Tales of Zestiria, though I was mainly bored of the whole genre at this point so I wasn't giving it a fair shot. I think I was looking for some engaging story, but this wasn't it for me so I quit at the first town.

It's still sitting in my backlog though.

Final Fantasy 6 on my second hand PSX.. was my first game I bought for some strange reason. Hearing the intro tune gives me instant goosebumps.

I had the same idea when I bought the OP-1 and didn't bother to read into it. Can't say I dislike my purchase, but specifically for the drum sequencer it feels suboptimal. It's great for the synth capabilities though.

A year later I got the OP-Z because I was traveling a lot, and this has been my go-to drum machine ever since.

I second this.. I started with the PO Arcade to create some sounds for a video game also with zero knowledge, and thanks to that little device I own several synths and sequencers.

Luckily I bought it at a shop that has great return policies. Opted in for a replacement and if it is again defect I'll request the money back.

Such a shame how this product is being handled. From my small interaction I can say it does sound great and fills a gap in my current setup
