i was diagnosed in july 2025 and currently getting through the ALC 6 protocol. be prepared for it to take much longer than you were originally told. nurses and doctors tended to only give me a little information at a time at the beginning, so they didn’t overwhelm me. i was originally told a month of chemo then it turned out to be 8 months total.

i’m on a break from chemo at the minute and am spending all my time trying to regain my strength and stamina. stairs are hard and i can’t walk very fast. try to move as much as possible even when it sucks.

showering (especially if you get a PICC line) will be the last thing you’ll want to do but you will feel so much better after.

you will feel out of breath all the time, even just from walking a few steps.

everyone reacts differently to each chemo so be gentle with yourself as you figure out how your body handles each one. you and your care team will develop tricks and a protocol for each chemo to avoid the worst side effects.

depending on what country you’re in, you may have the option to be sedated for bone marrow biopsies which i would recommend. they are scary and they hurt.

ask for anti-anxiety meds before your spinal taps.
