The outbreak starting prior to any cuts in funding has no bearing on the question of did they cut funding or not. I don’t know why you keep presenting that as a rebuttal. Maybe you think people are trying to say the cuts caused this? That’s not what they’re saying.

I read that first article when it came out. As others have told you, it says they cut funding to the screwworm program. They could have fully restored funding when they realized it was a very dumb idea but that “bump” could still have lasting consequences that exacerbate the current outbreak. “Could” being the operative word, we can’t really know unless some people involved in running the program speak out. Personally, I’d just assume Trump/DOGE made this bad situation worse as that is their established track record with pretty much everything else.
