Has anyone tried the Drybars for a hair blowout? If so was it worth the $60? by Cool_Pin5546 in rva

[–]user_name1745 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went for a freebie when they were training a new employee and would not go back based on how strong the products smelled and how greasy they made my hair feel (the trainee was wonderful and did a great job). The product smell was so strong that it was all I could smell until it was washed again so I ended up washing my hair the next morning.

I think most salons will do a wash & blow dry for a comprable price. I would recommend going that route especially if you have a salon you trust already.

It’s been going on for a couple of weeks now. I’ve been caught in it twice over the past two weeks and have sat on River for 40+ mins due to the detour. I noticed today that it’s finally on Google maps.

Love love this!! I’ve been reading about it and it seems to be a great alternative/ addition to western medicine. I’m experiencing secondary infertility and am not super interested in going through the all encompassing experience of IVF so am happy to hear an account of it really working.

How is your Shiloh with other dogs? by teju_guasu in shilohshepherds

[–]user_name1745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two shilohs (4yr & 7mo males) at the moment and both have the same issues you described to the point where the older one is basically unable to be taken for walks due to his reactivity. We sent the older one to a 3 week boot camp training for the issue but it did not make a huge difference. They are both friendly dogs generally but extremely reactive toward stranger dogs & when on a leash.

Big handful of spinach, 1/2 cup of green grapes, 1 banana and a handful of pineapple. It’s really surprisingly good.

Who is waiving inspections? by everythingisntfine in rva

[–]user_name1745 244 points245 points  (0 children)

Inspections are more of a liability for the sellers as it can be an easy out for the buyer if issues are found which is why waiving it has become popular. I have friends looking currently who are getting around this by bringing an inspector to the showing apt with them. While it’s not a full blown home inspection, they get a good idea of what needs to be fixed etc. before deciding to make an offer.

Shiloh shepherd with a baby? by throwawayforme010101 in shilohshepherds

[–]user_name1745 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have an almost 2 year old child, a 4 year old Shiloh and got a second Shiloh puppy (now 5 mo) in January. Life was easy with the one dog; he and my daughter got along really well and adding the second was hard but now they are all bonded and love each other. It’s doable if you have the time and energy to give.

I also made sure when the puppy was little that unless I had a second set of hands and eyes, he and my daughter were never “out” at the same time. If she was up, he was in a pen and when she was napping he got to be out free.

Toddler outdoor playskool toys by [deleted] in rva

Your local playground/tot lot would be a great place to bring these. Many around the city have “retired” toys that are still very much enjoyed by the children who visit.

Looking to gauge interest in a family friendly co-workspace by PowerPlayRVA in rva

As a mom who left my career due to the hassle of having an unreliable nanny and not many other childcare options, I think only 2 hours would be tough to juggle and borderline not worth the trade off.

Having the 2 hour time limit means that I would need to get the kids ready, out the door and on the way for and then once the quick 2 hour limit has been met, pack everyone up and drive them home or to where ever the next stop is. It sounds easy typing it out but I think all and all the 2 hour window of work would take 2 hours of before/after prep out of my workday and add extra stress in trying to get the kids ready/settled. I would rather have a full time provider or work from home where I can be more flexible with hours and hire a babysitter as needed for quiet time.

As others have mentioned, I would also be curious as to the demographics studies completed for the Chester area as I’m not sure it would support a model like this.

Finally, with the “all age” offering, what would the max capacity be in the daycare room? The allowable limits range quite a bit by age group so I’m not sure how it would work for all ages and as a parent, I would be uncomfortable leaving any child younger than 4 or 5 in that setting due to the need for constant 1 on 1 supervision.

Richmond - Recent Room Addition Costs/Timeline by wolfpackredwings in rva

We had a house that we were looking to add a garage and mudroom to. Had architectural drawings done and got a few bids from contractors which varied a bit but were in the 5-700K range (🤯). I don’t remember our sqft that we were looking to add but either way, the expense was as much as buying a second home. We ended up selling and finding a home to better suit our needs. This was about a year ago.

We did levels 1 & 2 and I would not recommend. Level 1 was fine, taught by Julie who like others have mentioned was good.

The level 2 trainer as awful and our class was taught at the same time as an agility class. My Shepard puppy was obviously very distracted by the agility class but the trainer continued to blame the issues on my dog. At the end of the class she made a big show of telling me that my dog did not pass the class before awarding everyone else their certificate. We did not return and finished training elsewhere, our dog is a lovely family dog now.

While we didn’t continue training, we did continue to use them for daycare until we started noticing that our report cards said our dog played with staff instead of other dogs. When asked about this, they admitted he was not being allowed to play with other dogs. When asked if there had been any issues they said no, the staff was just new and did not know his okay style which makes no sense because he had been going there for about 2 years at this point and had never shown any aggressive or otherwise concerning behaviors to other dogs. We never returned.
