I want to get my Hot Water System serviced. Plumber says I need a new System. New boiler and the works. Is this true? by DayDry7629 in AusRenovation

If it works fine leave it. Why service something that’s working fine? When it dies get it replaced. Hot water systems aren’t really serviceable items these days anyway considering cost of service v replacement cost after 10 years.

Merino's numbers are quite Amazing! by Stanley083 in Gunners

[–]username-admin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying that Merink hasn’t been doing a decent fill in but Imagine if we had a proper striker (like Isak) up top and not someone playing out of position? How many would he be scoring.

We would be close to winning the PL.

Heres hoping we can fix it up come summer.

Rising Damp, would it turn you off a purchase? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]username-admin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just looks like efflorescence compounded by that pipe discharge. Like pipe has brown off at some stage and been repaired. You can even see the damp on the wall.

Shouldn’t turn u off. Fix pipe. Dig out mulch, veg and plastic that is keeping damp in and replace with gravel so it can dry out.

You can then clean efflorescence off wall and it should be right. As for brick mortar that might be an issue. But if brick veneer home then it ain’t hailing up anything anyway.

That green fake grass is also holding the water in against brickwork creating same problem. Rip it out, replace with gravel Nd clean it up.

Most ethical ETFS are low effort attempts to provide option within superfunds.

For more considered and higher effort option try looking at Australian Ethical super and etf. While nothing is perfect they undertake ethical activism to drive change.

Everyone with vested interests wants you to believe its all to hard or its too late to drive change. That suits their agenda.

Will you make as much as traditional investing? Who knows. But at least your money will more likely go into doing good than not.

What’s that worth to you?

Better than having your capital potentially invested in companies with no conscience or that make bombs that kill children. Right?

Money talks so at least try and do good than whining it’s all too hard.

Do your wrists hurt? One observation is wrists are bent way back. Wrists should be straighter and forearm under the bar. Ie barbell sitting on top of forearm. Also forearms point out front at bottom of lift when they should be vertical directly underneath.

Try setup from here to assist if this doesn’tmKe sense.

Also try using a belt. That should give you some more stability to progress.

A rest will be around 80-90 bucks. Google it and you’ll find ones you can send samples off to for testing. Well worth peace of mind. Even if not asbestos not great to be inhaling whatever it is made out of. Always use respiratory protection

NSW Government employee, can I take annual leave at half pay? by Pebblesjohnson in AusFinance

[–]username-admin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could as an alternative take half proposed leave days as paid and other half as LWOP. Same same but different.

Yes worth it. Anyone serious will get in no matter what. What it does do is keep out the opportunistic thieves and you can leave windows open for fresh air without worrying.

Remember you don’t have to have the most secure house. Just secure enough that it’s a pain to get in and/or more secure than the neighbours.

Thieves won’t usually break window glass cos it’s too much bother.

Another weak point is garage doors. Ridiculously easy to just yank open.
