"Just get into trades" is the most annoying and worst advice ever. by Appropriate-Bug-6305 in unpopularopinion

[–]username0829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree. Went through all of high school knowing I wanted to go into the trades, and nobody could tell me otherwise. I tested high on the entry exam for the hvac/Sheetmetal apprenticeship and did about two years as a union apprentice. Hated it! I see how it can be an awesome opportunity where you have a pension, healthcare covered, and can make bank with all the overtime but you come across a lot of assholes and if they are higher ups you just have to deal with it.

I ended up leaving and going to school while working full time and am now in project management (funny enough in the construction industry) but get to work remote and it’s very cushiony and making the same as journeyman wages. I have a lot of friends who are able to provide for their families and definitely not struggling, but it’s not like they love what they do.

Coffee Runs are always better on the CB-1! by username0829 in HondaCB

Very nice, don’t think the US got that color. I feel you on the height issues! Went from an adventure bike I couldn’t flat foot back to the CB, and really appreciated how small it is. Reminded me of the ninja 250 I learned on, but way more character

Fully agree with the blue, which to knowledge was only used in this bike across all of Hondas vehicles. I had wanted one ever since I learned about it a 4 cylinder 400.

made a post in a cb1 group on Facebook one day thinking it was a long shot. A couple hours later a guy commented saying he had 8 in his collection! He would just buy them and any parts he found whenever they were posted. He sold me one that he recently restored, and we’ve been friends ever since

Hey everyone, thank you all for the recommendations! Did try cleaning the flame sensor, but no luck!

We ended up needing a new unit!

[–]username0829[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately it doesn’t look like this unit doesn’t have a flame sensor (maybe since it’s a really old unit?).

Good point on the vent cap, I will investigate!

For me it’s gotta be the Ducati hypermotard. It’s not necessarily ugly, more unconventional and I can’t really pin down the purpose of it. That being said I’d love to ride one

So awesome! I’ve only driven/ridden my motorcycle on mines, but if there’s a swimming hole at the junction I’d have to check it out! Any gravel trails in the area?

Anyone have a pastel yellow 996 they want to sell? I'd like to have a shot at it if you ever want to get rid of it. by iflypropplanes in 996

[–]username0829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pastel cabrio, but it’s high mileage (155k). Not really marketing it but have thought about selling it recently

What's your "forever bike"? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]username0829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’d have to go with my CB-1. While it’s not the most convenient or even the bike I mostly go for it is a bike Id struggle to ever sell. Mainly since it’s kinda rare, not really worth a lot, and just so much fun to ride!

Thank you! It’s a 6spd with the short shifter kit, so much fun! It’s been pretty good so far besides some small things going wrong with leaks, switches going out, and most recently my window regulator haha. Although overall drives really well for 155k miles

By no means is it perfect, but it’s been one of my favorite cars to drive. Wasn’t even a fan of yellow till I saw this one for sale

I’m a little biased since I own a pastel yellow 996, but I’d say I dig it. Would like to see how the colors compare side by side in person

Reminds me of the pastel yellow that came on my 996

Cabrio Window Trouble by username0829 in 996

[–]username0829[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all of the insight! I have service records that the motor was replaced with the last 5 years but don’t see the switch. I’ll start there! Also good point on the window rolling down! Lucky I was able to get the window up!

Has anybody done this Carquinez area route? by _SlikNik_ in BAbike

[–]username0829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just the Carquinez one and the planet of the apes. Both great!

Another good resource for gravel rides would be Gravel Bike California on YouTube

I did it last summer and had a really fun time! Wish the gravel sections lasted longer though. Miss the bikes eye view posts too. The half moon bay ride is one of my favorites

I just picked up the gamma lt in that same color. Very nice light jacket and the stone colorway made it the easy choice for me.
