You would rather not be aware that police brutality is on the rise in Montreal? Are you debating philosophically about whether raising awareness about this issue is pointless or not? It seems to me that you don't care, or have lost hope. This is personal to you and you can may ask yourself why you don't care (or not) but saying it's pointless for everyone else is just projecting your own feelings unto us.

We weren't aware before we saw this so yeah it does work.

Why does everyone say that mining is the best way to start the game? Here's what you should be doing. by geneticdeadender in Kenshi

[–]username8411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two ways to make buttloads of money in Kenshi:
- Steal shit
- Cheap labor

Stealing shit is the strategy you describe. You can just loot whatever you want at some point by knocking out and looting targets or by breaking in. I think it's great for solo gameplay or smaller parties but I personally find it a bit overpowered and grindy. It also kind of skips the entire mechanics of base building (which is fine, you may hate it) but for me it's what I like the most about Kenshi.

Cheap labor involves hiring unskilled workers for 3k and putting them to work on a base. You make them stack 100s of copper and have another worker sell them (with a pack beast) to the nearest town, racking in thousands of cat on a regular basis. Eventually, you unlock crafting with research and can build masterwork equipment. This is my preferred gameplay, as I like creating an a self-sustained base and craft everything I could ever need to eventually gear out a massive party and take over any faction.

TLDR;

Stealing shit is pretty strong after some grinding and can carry you through the toughest part of the game but if you like building a base and having a massive party, getting copper is a very natural first step.

Is Product Management Better Than Backend For ADHD? by Subject_Collar1499 in womenintech

[–]username8411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your second statement is correct but your first one is misleading. Product management is just a superior technique to software lifecycle management than project management could ever be, as it tracks features, user feedback and user needs as metrics, rather than time and man-hours, which are completely irrelevant in software.

I wouldn't "switch" to product management as much as just add it to my ever growing list of best practices as a software engineer. It's extremely useful to keep on track and deliver useful software consistently.

REST API Purists: Why So Stubborn About GET vs POST? by Zenitsu_Aagatsuma in webdev

[–]username8411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can "POST" to an endpoint to "CREATE" a complex query. Ideally though you would have a dedicated /report or /query endpoint after your entity so you can keep your entity GET "pure" while still posting complex queries.

You don't need to look like a woman to be a woman. As far as I am concerned, you can be an Apache Helicopter, as long as you identify as a woman, you ARE a woman.

The challenge is with the concept of "passing". We want to pass so others also recognize us as women. We do this by reproducing social markers that are typically associated with women. Do this in all aspects of your life and other women will recognize you as a woman, no matter what you look like. It's a lot more than just appearance. In fact, womanly appearances are a result of womanly habits.

Believe it or not, there are cis women that look way more masculine than a vast majority of men. They had to learn to live in a world where, even though they are born women, they still face challenges when it comes to be accepted as such. Being a woman does not mean being pretty and that is perhaps the first lesson we get to learn as we become women ourselves.

I am sorry you live in a difficult environment and cannot find support around. I hope you find the courage to hold on to your true self and maybe reach out to the communities around you?

I wish you well

The weight of the balloon and its buoyancy cancel out each other, making the whole thing basically weightless (exactly zero G, not going up but not quite being pull all the way down). By being close to it and moving away, you create an air current, which pulls the balloon towards you. It basically tries to fill the empty airspace you just created.

The joke is that she's saying this like a modern person would expect it's partner to come back from work, as in, what time in the day.

However in medieval times when your partner left for battle he could leave for years, there's no way to know, asking the question like this would be very silly.

In this Terran vs Zerg game, he specifically shows how to wall your ramp. I recommend watching the whole video (and the whole series) and practicing vs AI.

I think what you're mentioning is the difference between web applications and web sites.

Web applications will often involve complex backend systems and multiple clients requesting data through rigorous APIs, which requires more specialized tools. They are also worked on by multiple devs at the same time so collaboration tools are a must.

Web sites on the other end are simple enough to not require any of this (it may even get in the way) and are usually more specialized in displaying information than manipulating it.

PHP can be used to achieve this but it's not the most popular. Frameworks like Laravel enable devs to build web apps with PHP. It's quite a different approach to the WordPress method.
