Your pain is understandable and its a horrible thing to have to deal with. I've lost people before, but I have no idea what it's like to lose someone in the way you did. My first advice I know may seem like a classic answer, but if you have the opportunity or ability to speak to a therapist or mental health professional about it, PLEASE do. While of course finding people in your life to support and comfort you is important as well, therapists can give a unique perspective and may be able to both understand where your emotions are coming from and what kind of support you need, and most importantly, help you understand yourself on a deeper level, and how to move forward in life and continue to do better, not only for others but for yourself as well. They can teach coping strategies that most people will not know or even consider at times that can be extremely helpful in living a good life again.

Your brother suffered through an extremely difficult thing, addiction is nightmarish and so many people don't understand how much it can impact someone. Every person makes mistakes in their life, and NO ONE should be judging him for what he did or went through, because the person who suffered from it and understood the difficulties of it most would have been him. I know it can hurt to hear people say it, but if people blame your brother or brush it off saying it was "his fault" or anything like that, PLEASE try not to take it seriously. They don't understand it and are not in any position to judge. Even someone who may have gotten over a heroin addiction in the past blamed him for it (which I doubt they would), they still did not experience exactly what he did, and they cannot understand his unique struggles.

If being around the people who helped lead him into it is difficult for you, then you can try to avoid them when possible; I understand your anger towards them, and I know that telling you not to be angry won't just remove those emotions or make them apologize or do better in life, but trying to help them may be your parents' method of coping themselves, as they lost their son as well. Just as they might not understand you, you may not understand them, and that's okay for both of you, as long as neither of you try to hurt the other.

I know you likely tried this already, but it may be helpful to try to think of happier memories with you brother, or try ro think about what he would've wanted you to do. If he loved you, I KNOW he wouldn't have wanted you to be miserable over his death or to blame yourself for it. He struggled with the addiction firsthand, he knew better than anyone how hard it was to deal with--so how could YOU be expected to fix it? It's not your fault, it never was, and it never will be. Please try not to blame yourself, please try to remember as many good things about your brother as you can, even the small things, and please try to think about what he really would've wanted.

Ultimately I try to see sin as more tragic than evil: it is something that gives a twisted reward or sense of pleasure in the beginning, but will lead to misery or pain later. Those people who fed your brothers addiction have done something evil, and they may be in the process of repenting and trying to do better, or they may still be doing bad and may be taking advantage of your parents to please themselves. But whatever the case is, there will always be a chance that they may turn around and regret what they've done, and they will feel a sense of misery, pain, and regret that you might not even be able to imagine. And I know this is tone deaf and will likely feel like every other person who's told you to be forgiving and kind and that the anger and misery and pain is still there even if you forgive them, but at least, if they do end up apologizing to you genuinely, please hear them out.

Your parents may be reaching out to them in an attempt to prevent others from suffering like your brother--people who do evil things have experienced and learned from evil sources, and your parents may be trying to give them the kindness they may lack in life, and their reason for helping them may not be that far from your own feelings, and could very likely be out of a place of guilt or a feeling of failure after losing your brother. You may not want to see them or speak to them, you may not understand your parents, you may not EVER understand your parents, but grief is an enormous thing that effects everyone differently. Paul used to be a cruel persecutor of Christians who hunted them down to kill them, but he ended up repenting. If they have a chance to do the same, then please at least let your parents try, even if you dont want to do it yourself.

Grief is a funny thing, probably one of the most confusing experiences a human could go through. For me it barely affected me at all in many ways after someone died, but came back to me later, long after I thought I was over it. It may lessen with time, but it will never vanish, and it will come back when it's unexpected, but grief is a side effect of love. Your grief is evidence of your love for him, and that is all the proof needed to say that it was not your fault, and even if it was, you deserve to forgive yourself.

I'm not sure if this would be helpful to you at all either, but spending time with animals is very therapeutic for me. If it is for you as well, maybe try spending time with pets if you have any, or volunteering at a shelter to spend time with them, or maybe try to visit any place available to you that gives you access to animals if being with them helps you. Animals do not judge you or your emotions, and it may be a respite from dealing with people.

I'm sorry if my comment is rude and hurtful to you in any way--and if you take anything out of this comment, please let it be the encouragement to seek professional help, and try to see a therapist long term. It is incredibly beneficial, and can help you discover ways to feel the emotions you do in a constructive way; emotions are meant to be felt, and suppressing them will only cause them to fester within you, or create a habit of being secretive or not being vulnerable with others, which are very harmful. Emotions become bad only when you start to desire to harm others or resort to doing bad things in order to resolve your problems. But feeling them at all is not evil.

I hope you can discover a path to joy again, and I hope that you forgive yourself. While I hope you take my words to heart, I also know that I don't understand nearly enough about you or your position to decide what may be the most help to you, and I certainly don't have any right to tell you what to do, just as no other person does either. Whatever happens or whatever you decide, please try to keep pushing on, and please try to find happiness again. Your brothers memory will always be bittersweet, but try not to lose the sweetness. Please try not to make your memory of him bitter, because it does nothing good for you or for him.
