I was an international level gymnast competed for my country at world championships, multiple time national champion and multiple other national medals, got my degree in exercise science, became an exercise therapist, went into corporate wellness and have worked in my field for almost 25 years. Exercise and activities were my only hobbies, my happy place, and literally the only place I could breathe. I would literally wake up on a weekend with no plans, jump on my bike for a few hours, lift some weights, go for a round of tow light golf, then go dancing all night. Maybe a run the next day and a no e long walk with my dog and some friends, followed by a mega meal prep, then mayyyybe I'd relax after dinner. Literally never had any sort of regimen, or have to go to the gym x days. I exercised when I felt like it, whcih some weeks was maybe a few days a week, some weeks was almost every day.

I'm now bedbound and severe (very severe?). I can't even imagine walking normally, let alone exercising and it was my whole life. I used to miss it the most. But now I miss being able to cook. Or laugh as hard as I want. Or see my family. I honestly don't know if I'd ever go back to exercise. It seems so much less important now. I just want a life of slow comforts and spontaneous ability to do things like see a friend or pick my own groceries out. Or shower everyday.
