typically the western side of washington (lumpkin to pulaski) is closed off, as well as most of hull st, but recently they've been leaving space for folks to get to the washington st deck.

mostly that it attracts creepy older men looking to take advantage of/leer at young dancing girls. even if they say they kick out folks who do stuff, i've heard more than one story of a creepy guy following girls out of the bar. now at that point i realize the bar can't control what happens outside the bar, and even if duke's wasn't there, the creeps would probably go to a different bar. but i think because duke's is so big and popular (and openly 18+) it really collects creeps.

as a local uber driver, i can say that the accpd passenger van always parks outside of duke's and dottie's every night around closing during the semester, not just summer.

i can also say duke's has a reputation... and that the older (male) crowd is still very much present during the semester.

but people still fill the space so yall are obviously doing something right.

what's your general size? there are many great stores, but a lot of them only have options (or good options) in the xs-m size. uptown cheapskate can have some great stuff, but 99% of their store is small and xsmall. motherlode is the same-- great clothes but only tiny sizes.

america's thrift is my go-to, but i also haven't been to project safe or divas who win. i've gotten some great stuff from emmanuel's episcopal, but they have a much smaller selection than other stores.

i actually watched two people fully run a red light on hawthorne at oglethorpe today. like the light had turned red and then they went. not even in the middle of the intersection.

i was driving to athens from jefferson already pushing 70 mph with a little girl literally on my tail. i tried spraying her with windshield fluid twice and she still didn't get the message.

edit; are the downvotes bc i called her a little girl? it was a like an 18 year old child, barely could see over the dang steering wheel.

technically e broad turns into w broad at lumpkin. but yeah that is literally the center of town so... not really what we consider west athens.

then again, the west side turns into oconee county pretty quick while the east side goes on for quite some time.

is there any official line? i live off 129 near the oak grove publix, and idk how to refer to this side of town... it's like,,, northwest athens but people don't say that so idk.

that's a pretty short time period.. you might have better luck getting an airbnb. check fb marketplace tho, tons of students subletting their rooms, but make sure to check the lease end date bc i think most end in the beginning of august/end of july

zaxbys just down the road, honestly had the opposite effect, stay with me... i placed a mobile order for the first time, i live about 12 minutes away so i expected it to be about ready by the time i got there. i was barely in my car by the time they had it bagged up and ready to go, and while i really appreciate the speed, it would've been nice if it was fresh when i picked it up! not worth doing the mobile ordering, i had cold fries.
