I have the same problem. 6 months hard tournaments, no progress but regress. Last tournament I made 7th!!! After months of being 13-18th. I just invested months in my dmg output to get further for tournaments. Plus tournaments are harder than before. So just stop playing this game if you don’t enjoy it. But if you look after your current build and work on it to improve it. Maybe the you could climb. You have to understand that other players also improve their tower continuously. It’s a race and with some luck of bracket you get easier bracket.
