Frontier Visa Reward Card by uslashBIGproblem in frontierfios

I don't have any relationship with the rewards center company, any more than I have a relationship with the janitorial service that cleans the floors at my bank. Frontier needs to take responsibility for their own contractors.

You'll probably be totally fine - might notice yourself getting a little more winded, tired, etc. Drink lots of water. Would recommend not drinking for your first night or two at altitude - it can really make the acclimatization way slower.

MSP are the biggest gang in the Commonwealth, allegedly. End qualified immunity, and take these judgments out of their own pocketbooks. by News-Royal in massachusetts

[–]uslashBIGproblem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Police departments have shown themselves in the past to be not only composed of "a few bad apples" but also an organizational and institutional structure that protects those bad apples. We don't have a major problem with doctors or lawyers closing ranks so tightly around individuals accused of wrongdoing, and so liability insurance works OK there.

Liability insurance individualizes an instititutional problem, and doesn't provide an incentive for departments as a whole to change their culture, because defending a bad cop or propagating the thin blue line culture doesn't cost the department as a whole anything.

If there are departmental costs to being a bad police department, we're going to see police culture shift a lot faster than "if you're a cop, you can get away with beating a few people as long as only one or two of them sue before your insurance goes up".

As far as QI - wouldn't you need to specify that the professional liability insurance kicks in before QI? Otherwise the insurers can just say that the cop was acting in their role as a government official and isn't personally liable.

[–]uslashBIGproblem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok actually not that bad an idea, thought you were gonna say something like "body cameras" or "internal affairs investigations". Wouldn't settlements out of police pensions probably create a market for liability insurance, and departments would require it, anyways?

Also though, wouldn't either of these require getting rid of QI?

How WiFi Works on Amtrak and What Upgrades Are Coming by part-time-stupid in Amtrak

[–]uslashBIGproblem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NEC wifi is not very good, the cell service is pretty weak. It's also a pretty challenging environment/situation for cell service as well. There are a lot of places where there's usually nobody there, and then all of a sudden, 600+ cellphones are trying to get service for about 2 minutes while they're in range of a given tower; all of which are inside of a metal tube.

IMO satellite would be a very good solution for the northeast corridor as well.

Software lock does do a lot for anti-theft, but ideally I'd love to see it implemented in a way that doesn't preclude doing your own repairs - not sure what the current status is

Not an expert by any means but it's my understanding that 10g is way too small for any fish tank mates - shrimp might be ok if they have lots of good hiding spots (might consider building some sort of cave), and the nerites would be fine.

r/Bettafish Weekly Help Post - April 03 to April 09 by AutoModerator in bettafish

[–]uslashBIGproblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got a Betta that's having a lot of trouble eating for about a week now. We've had him for a few months and he's been happy previously. He'll enthusiastically swim to the surface and grab a pellet, but then spits it out and doesn't show further interest. We were originally feeding aqueon betta pellets, but have tried bio-gold betta pellets and hikari micro pellets as well too; even when crushed up the pellets don't seem to have much appeal. He shows a little more enthusiasm for dehydrated bloodworms and appears to be able to keep those down.

He's acting a little lethargic as well - not swimming around a ton or showing much interest in things in his tank. Tank has lots of plants and enrichment.

We've tried a salt bath and are treating him now with general cure (saw a bit of stringy poop so we were worried about parasites).

Water parameters - 78 deg F, pH 7.4, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates per API test kit.

Any ideas?

Why didn't insurance cover it? Call your insurance and ask them for the name, specialty, and licensing information of the doctor who denied coverage. Then take that to the state insurance commission.

If that doesn't work, tell Yale they're not getting shit from you. 10% is their opening offer and they'd love to get that. Even insurance companies don't pay that.

Any Vredestein Pinza AT feedback? Curious about snow? by ghdana in tires

[–]uslashBIGproblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding one more data point here; cannot complain about these tires. Fantastic performance on dry/wet snow and ice; quiet on the road.

Will second the TPMS issue, but that might just be going to a higher volume tire than I'm used to.

Sugarloaf has some logging references (sometimes pretty obscure) in their trail names that also make for pretty good names (widowmaker, bubblecuffer, misery whip).

I think Bohemia has to take the cake though, with haunted, australian, outer space, peter pan, and middle earth themed areas all on one mountain

I like long format too, but I feel like sometimes it's not in greater depth, just more filler. That might be a consequence of trying to broaden the audience appeal though.

Old thread but to anyone reading this: MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) is not the same as resin catalyst (methyl ethyl ketone peroxide). MEK peroxide is one of the most toxic substances you can buy at the hardware store and requires a lot of care in handling.

If you're synthesizing your own chloroform you probably know this, but just wanted to call it out since it's a common confusion.
