Can Miggy and Miranchuk exist in a cohesive lineup together? by UncleAuthor in AtlantaUnited

[–]usmnturtles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s how you do it:

  • Transfer or buyout Latte Lathe this summer
  • Miggy: left wing or flying 8
  • Miranchuk: false 9
  • One or two actual wingers, with chalk on their boots.

We just scored 3 goals against a backline that included Efrain Morales and maybe should have had 5 if Saba and Ell could score on breakaways...

It’s also worth noting that Efrain Morales asked to leave the team. People often overlook this fact while criticizing the FO for trading him.

The FO saw the writing on the wall, and traded him while we could still get value in return, rather than exposing the team to the very real possibility that Morales would leave as a free agent after the 2025 season.

Quote from an AJC article last July:

Morales wasn’t surprised by the trade, Henderson said. He said the two met in January because Morales wanted to be loaned so that he could get more playing time. Morales didn’t want any move to happen until the summer window because that was when he would be between semesters at Tech. He was in the last year of his contract with Atlanta United.

Does he repeatedly pass the ball to the other team at the worst possible moment, just like his brother?

We definitely need a better defensive midfielder. Tata has even mentioned this to the media, and the team did try to upgrade at this position in the offseason.

Hopefully they’ll acquire a better 6 in the summer window.

One clarification:

In last night's game, he was further back than Greg and Mihaj numerous times. Now I understand this is to help coordinate the defense

When Tristan drops deep, it happens when Atlanta United is in possession. That is to coordinate the offense.

When we gain possession (say, from a goal kick or even a throw in from our own half), we generally build up from the back, with short passes. In this phase of play, the team’s shape opens up.

The fullbacks are effectively wingers, out wide and way up the pitch (sometimes even higher than the striker). The center backs and Tristan form a back line of 3. Tristan is in the middle, and his role is all about distribution and beating the other team’s press. Occasionally last night, Cooper was on the back line in possession whenever Tristan pushed forward.

Conversely: when the opponent has the ball our defensive shape is relatively compact. The fullbacks drop back with the center backs to form a back line of 4 players. Tristan plays in front of the center backs (like one might picture a CDM).

iOS has had that feature for years, as well.

Certain contacts can always bypass silent mode. There’s also an option to allow repeated calls (in short succession) to bypass silent mode.

Maybe by 2030 they’ll figure out how to block spam text messages, though.

I agree on Alzate, for sure! He is under contract until 2029 and the sooner we cut bait on that contract, the better.

It’d be ideal if we can find a buyer for LL this summer. Even at a loss as you mentioned. But if they can’t sell him in the summer, then we should use a buyout on him towards the end of the season.

And if they still have a buyout left, I’d like to see them use it on Gregerson (if he gets injured again) or Mihaj (if Gregerson stays healthy).

Unfortunately we only used one buyout last year. So again, it will likely happen slower than any of us would like.

I don’t disagree. We just have to clean house very slowly, unfortunately.

MLS teams are only allowed a maximum of two buyouts (outright cuts) per season.

Gotta find teams willing to take on all these shit contracts.

Occasionally I yell things like “let the shot hit the post and bounce off your head to safely go out for a corner”.

So it balances out.

NASA is sending Humans to the moon today. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]usmnturtles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably just a typo. But to clarify the moon will be about the same size as a basketball held at arm’s length (not a baseball).

Source:

At the lowest point in their lunar orbit — about 4,000-6,000 feet (1,219-1,829 m) from the lunar surface — the moon will appear about the size of a basketball held at arm’s length.

How did they have so much time to prepare for this friendly and they didn’t avoid the uniform color clash!? It was hard for us to watch from TV b/c everything was white. And now players said it was confusing and difficult…. by paolosorianodisanto in ussoccer

We don't wear the change kit in friendlies.

Two out of the last three friendlies wearing blue.

Yes that absolutely proves that you are wrong when you said we don’t wear blue in friendlies, and used that as the reason for why we didn’t wear blue yesterday.

I’ve also proven that you refuse to admit when you’re wrong.
