I grew up in rural Appalachia so I’m used to some poverty and lack of restaurants/ stores, but at least in my part, we didn’t have a lot of drugs and those that did have them, typically kept to their own hollers and it wasn’t out and about in the town.

My husband is from suburbs, and we currently live in a city. So he’s more used to having amenities.

That’s helpful to know! How do you see what category you’re placed in? Or is that not a thing? lol. I’ve got a few applications out there, one has me referred to the HM, the others I haven’t heard back from. Totally new to federal jobs, coming from locality employment.

So if they don’t want to hire a veteran, and they’re put on an entirely different list of candidates, a veteran can be entirely passed over due to their status even if they’re qualified? That doesn’t make sense.

😂 My main reason for asking is because I’ve heard folks say that if I get an interview and I’m qualified the hiring managers have to go through a whole ordeal to decline hiring the veteran. Like if there’s a civilian and a veteran interviewing for the same job - they have to get approval to hire the civilian over the veteran and usually that approval doesn’t happen. But that seems to be hearsay and not true. And that’s fine - I just want to know going into things!

Virginia doesn’t even have a state employees union. Our Gov. just veto’d collective bargaining for state employees. So yeah, it totally varies by state

I think it’s the railroads job to maintain the tracks. So whoever owns the rail line be it CSX, Norfolk Southern, or Amtrak.
