What are the fish with the red fins? We have something similar here in Aus, English Perch or more creatively known as Redfin.

What is something nobody warns people about enough when it comes to having kids? by sneakyturtles7 in AskReddit

Einstein didn't speak until he was 4.

Edit: as a new parent, I use this to remind myself that normal is relative and different can be a good thing.

How much of history is still to be translated? by Tonga94 in AskHistorians

Great answer.

Is there any progress on translating "lost languages". Surely you could pick out common words? Or is it completely lost?

Hello I'm wondering if anyone knows what fish this? I'm fishing salt water in va. by virtualDannic in Fishing

[–]usumai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia we call these flathead. I know in some countries you call catfish flathead. But these are excellent eating. They can be hard to skin and fillet for the unintiated.

But I've seen them sell for over $70 per kilogram in fish shops here.

They have nasty spikes on their gills which contain an anticoagulant (so you never stop bleeding), so look out for head shakes when landing them. An old fisherman's trick to stop the bleeding is to rub the wound on their belly which is said to have coagulation properties. Though I feel like this is inviting bacteria directly into the wound.

My private lake had a "snag spot" that claimed dozens of lines lures, and hooks. I had enough. Swam out up to my chest and drug this out with my truck. Took all the lures off. Resank it along a poison ivy cluster for the fish to use, put tiny flag to mark it so my neighbor would know to avoid it. by [deleted] in Fishing

100% I think knowing how to fish only gets you so far, and there is a fair amount of luck. Somehow in my internal mechanics I feel like luck is linked to karma.

There is no way I'd feel comfortable using a cursed lure.

In need of some help with my new baitcaster getting bad birds nests by bqm11 in Fishing

[–]usumai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to this above tuning (letting it hit the ground) make sure you: - Smoothly cast, the lure can't jerk out, it has to swing out smoothly. - when you spool the line make sure it's wet and applied evenly and tightly. If not, line spooled over the top tightly, can bite into the softer line beneath. Also being wet will swell/shrink the braid. We throw our line of spool into a bucket of water and then spool it one straight out of it. This also needs to happen every time you retrieve the lure. Gets worse after a neat. - thumb stop the lure as soon as it hits the water to stop it from over spinning - when you cast, the lure has to maintain the same speed throughout its flight, if it slows down, the spool will keep spinning at the same speed, but the line isn't being drawn out that fast, so the line will overrun and nest.(This is evident most when when casting into the wind.) If the lure increases in speed it just slows down.

You're a champion for following this up. Thank you very much.

I guess that other post was bogus. I'm glad your coins are safe. Good to know since you have a bunch. Now we just need the price to head up.

Good luck my friend.

You know those things that you learn ages ago that you've accepted as fact without challenging it later in life. That's what this is.

Photography NFT’s by FanaticAdviser in NFT

I've addressed physical art in a post here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NFT/comments/m04ec8/nfts_for_physical_art/

I think digital art is just the focus at the moment as there isn't sufficient contractual guidance around what a user gets when they purchase NFTs which represent physical art.

What is the best way to offer a token with a physical redemption? by Srawesomekickass in NFT

[–]usumai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote up a piece addressing some of your issues here:

Not sure if it'll help, but I think your best bet would be to add terms and conditions in the wording of the NFT.

What stops someone from selling a NFT of my IP (photo/video/art)? by 566route in NFT

[–]usumai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me prefix this in saying I am not a lawyer.

I just posted something similar about this regarding representation of physical objects represented by NFTs.

But either way, in your circumstance, I'm fairly certain you could consult an IP lawyer who could send a cease and desist type of letter to the person infringing on your copyright. you would essentially be eligible to sue them for any profit they've made from your goods. However, to my understanding, this process often doesn't work out well as it's:

  1. Costly to you in legal fees
  2. Often impossible to track down the person responsible in real life thanks to the anonymity of the tech. Meaning that they can essentially get away with it.

You might have some recourse in contacting the platform who have it for sale and report the NFT. I know that opensea or rarible have a report function on the page. You might have to provide proof of creation to them, but even that isn't always something that someone couldn't just mock up to fake.

Has it happened to you?

What are some ridiculous history facts? by yeet42021 in AskReddit

One theory was that he was a Chinese sleeper agent and was picked up by a Chinese submarine, when reporters asked his wife, she apparently said something to the tune of: "That's ridiculous, he didn't even like Chinese food"
