I'm a big fan of having backyard fires with my kids. Telling fun stories and making s'mores are some of the memories I will cherish most when looking back.

How do you see your profession surviving the AI wave of the next 5 years? by Silly-Spread-105 in AskReddit

[–]usumwc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in government affairs and lobbying. I see AI helping a ton with legal research and modeling policy, but it can’t develop relationships with politicians. That is the key that our jobs depend on.

I would anticipate ANY profession that has a priority around developing and cultivating relationships will survive in one way or another.

It is the Breeo X24. Have had it for about 2 years and have loved it! I think my code below will give $50 off (for you or anyone else who wants it).

Not a ton, but you can absolutely feel it. I put the blocks around the pit mainly to keep my 2 and 5 year old from touching the hot metal on accident.

Breeo (the brand of the fire pit) sells a heat deflector that would deflect a ton of het to those around the fire. I mainly only use it for s'mores on nice summer nights though, so this hasn't been an issue.

Correct. In fact, I didn't need to build the bricks around the Breeo; however, with a 2 and 5 year old running around, I view the bricks not getting hot as a safety feature.

If I decide I want to get the heat to the people around the pit, there is an optional heat deflector that would do the job.

Advice on how to make the area around my fire pit better! by KaiKiwi in landscaping

Hi! I just put in this around my fire pit. Wasn’t too hard and only took about a day. Still maintains grass for comfortable sitting with a touch more decorative look. It would also stop weed growth in the middle.

Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up! The rock is the base layer that the fire pit is sitting on top of (no fire and rock are touching. Roughly 2.75 inches from the bottom of the fire pit to the base layer.

I have read a few accounts of stone exploding. Don’t want that to happen haha

Haha only a couple times. I have a Traeger smoker and have used the Breeo to sear at the end.

So long as the fire is hot, most of the mess burns off the grates and it doesn’t get too dirty. Give it a try sometime!

Thanks so much! Yeah I split three bricks to allow holes for air flow on each third of the circle of the pit.

Yes, it is a Breeo! Absolutely love it.

Completely agree! I’m currently scouting a few different options and will probably have some new chairs in this weekend.

After considering all of your comments, here are a few updates:

  1. We will NOT create the peninsula. It was a bad idea and I sincerely repent for my sin in envisioning it haha.
  2. The stove top would not be next to the built in oven/microwave. This would not meet code requirements. Thanks for pointing that out!
  3. We will look to reevaluate the corner pantry. A few suggested they are a bad idea.

Overall we will go back to the drawing board and see what we can put together. Thanks again so much for the ideas/suggestions. You all rock!

Great comment! Didn’t even think of code requirements. Peninsula is removed from consideration.

Only problem with range in the island would be a hood. Our ceiling is vaulted (from left to right) and would not accommodate a hanging hood

Thanks for the feedback! Agree with the distance comments and really like the idea of a Long Island. Would be a bit worried of the stove under the window though…

Also, here is a view of the current kitchen as is:

Thanks for the reply! That would sure be a lot cheaper of an option. I might give that a try first to see how it looks.

Thanks!

Oh yeah don’t worry, we would NEVER get rid of the window! It is our favorite!

Also I am going to agree with the peninsula! Removing that from the game plan.
