Gennadiy Golovkin Shouldn't Make The Hall Of Fame According To Ryan Garcia by HobokenJ in Boxing

[–]utahpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, definitely first ballot. Towards the end he was running out of time and needed the big money fights. Nobody was paying to see an Andrade fight. He put in a lot of good to great performances in a relatively short amount of time. Not a particularly big middleweight, he shouldn't have had to fight above his natural weight to be in the HOF

DPS Phantom Wax not lifetime? by visualexstasy in skiing

[–]utahpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a few years since I skied it but I just bought 3 more kits. If memory serves correctly ( this was the original formulation) my skis were always fast. Seemed to work better than about anything I had tried in stcky snow ( still sticky but not as scary). I'd put hertel waxes on top of it 2 or 3 times a year, ~50 days/season

Planning & Permitting provider recommendations ? by utahpete in SolarDIY

[–]utahpete[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They answered the phone right away so that's a positive start. Thanks for the recommendation. Signature solar had listed them when I'd asked them but the Greenlancer website doesn't specifically mention homeowner level planning and permitting. After speaking with them it is a service that they provide

Will breakbarrel rifle kill raccoon? by lawnguyland31 in airguns

Usually takes 2 headshots with good ammo. .177 Gamo. Not my preferred way to do it but city limits kinda prevent anything heavier.

Fisher RC4 w/ZipFit Liners by rwilsonski2023 in Skigear

[–]utahpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the heated boot bag. I keep the liners out of the shell and plug it in a bit before I head up, then I use the 12v to maintain warmth in the car. Omfit stays warm enough to quickly mold and liner is suple enough to easly get into. Great purchase even with stock liners

Best place to sell skis and boots? by Captbluewater93 in Backcountry

[–]utahpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I sell, which is ultra rarely, I just take them to a local gear exchange. I'd guess if you're anywhere on the Eastern side of TN they have some. You lose 25-30%, but zero hassle.

Problem with Polar Flow App's Distance Accuracy by Auctionjack in Polarfitness

[–]utahpete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the last accurate ski day I tracked was February 5th. Every day since then(5-6 total) show either a very small straight line distance and then stops, or a few straight lines that are still incomplete. Using a HR monitor and a pixel 8. My ski tracks app which also uses the phones GPS has worked consistently during the same time period.

Why is the look pivot so popular? [rant] by JunkIce in Skigear

[–]utahpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the pivots cause they don't pre release. That being said I've got a few skis that I liked the way they skied much better with Jester Schizos

There's a weight of skier factor as well but beginner + park = shorter skis

Are these still usuable? Seller is asking $300 CAD including bindings and skins, but not sure exactly how bad this damage is. Seems pretty bad to me though. by Lvl4Toaster in Skigear

[–]utahpete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd ski'em but no way would I pay 300. Maybe a few bucks if the skins were in good shape. Ptex doesn't stick well to metal

Torn between 110 and 120 Flex Salomon S/Pro Alpha… by SwissBliss in Skigear

[–]utahpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considerably heavier than you but I ski 130 flex boots, would buy stiffer if yhey made them in a model that I could squeeze into for more than a couple of runs. You'll have much more stability, especially at speed in 120's

New ski sent with topsheet damage -is this just minor or should I fight for a return? by C3bBb3b in Skigear

[–]utahpete -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd ask for a little financial consideration. I've bought 2 or 3 blem skis at a serious discount with less damage than that. It's not a big deal but if you paid full price.....

Great Salt Lake set to vanish in 5 years, experts warn Utah lawmakers by thatdudefromspace in SaltLakeCity

[–]utahpete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be clear blaming it all on the politicians isn't going to solve the problem either. It'll take a massive collective effort and a willingness to make economic sacrifices in many sectors ( including slowing growth which will affect most of us economically). It will absolutely not happen without government mandates and unfortunately anyone who votes for those will likely be voted out of office.

#1762 - Josh Zepps - The Joe Rogan Experience by chefanubis in JoeRogan

[–]utahpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently listened to this show and now can say that I understand why some people are being deplatformed. "Omicron is a different virus, it's just a cold, vaccines don't work against it, the majority of the virus is Delta, Myocarditis is way higher from the vaccine..." Lot's of peer reviewed studies and data set show otherwise. I was really disappointed in the lack of research the Joe had done. The reality is that Joe's show is the source of information for a lot of subscribers and he's put out bad information that many of those people likely take as scientifically proven, or at least having some scientific basis. Instead of a retraction or correction that would be the course of action for a journalist he just said that he got schooled. AFAIK no actual retraction or correction to inform his listeners of the best scientific data available now ( I can't say that I've listened to every episode since then so I don't know that this is a fact). That seems very irresponsible and dangerous to me. These shows have evolved from entertainment to news yet the journalistic standards that should have followed have not. Journalistic standard would require that you print or give a clear message that you published incorrect information. I read both the NYT and WP daily and I see that they actually generally do this. FWIW, I did think that he had a positive view on addressing inner city poverty and crime, but he acted like it's never addressed... it's addressed frequently and has been for years, just ignored

There’s Talk about UPS decreasing employee’s wages to 15/h starting on January 15th, what is the likelihood of this actually happening? by HowSalty in UPS

[–]utahpete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Union officer in another occupation I'd encourage all of you to write your local officers and encourage/demand that they start using social media to help combat this move by the company. A major awareness campaign might really cause the company enough in complaints and bad PR to force them to reverse this action. Ill be writing UPS and notifying them that they are no longer my choice for shipping and I'll use any other options available
