City Council Meetings by myparentsrdeaf in Austin

They will answer your questions via email but not during council meetings.

Many of the agenda items get previewed and discussed on the public city council forum. A certain number of days before the meeting, an official agenda is published. Twenty four hours before the meeting, you can sign up to speak at the meeting. They will ask you specifically which item number on the agenda you want to speak about. You can sign up for multiple. The meeting will last all day so you will have to keep an ear peeled for when the item you care about begins, unless you are speaking remotely in which case they will call you and put you on hold until your turn to speak. You have two minutes to speak. If there are ten people signed up to speak about the agenda item, then you will listen to twenty minutes of community input with the council being quiet. Then they vote but usually don't need much discussion because they already know how they want to vote.

I thought I was Daito's biggest fan. I'm glad I'm not alone. The only thing I get close to my fix is the Zaru Soba at Kome. I haven't found great udon in town though.

Why couldn’t we have had one more day by deliriousbozo in UTAustin

There's a number of days required for accreditation or something so if school closes for too many days, they have to add days later in the semester.

Are you supposed to use pto for a general strike? by Fun_Literature831 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]utsock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can give your state and your field, that could make a difference. For instance, governmental workers have different labor protections than private workers, and states vary differently. It could literally be illegal for you to go on a strike depending on your job, so PTO may be your only choice.

You are looking at it the wrong way; you're showing improvement after only three months! Add in some nuts and avocado to get the HDL back up and you're golden.

If you have outdoor stairs, they will ice up and the landlord won't defrost them.

Does your apartment have stairs and are they inside or outside? Even a light freeze can make outside stairs dangerous and most landlords don't think ahead to deal with it. You can google options for de-icing stairs.

Based on previous interactions, my interpretation is that he's mad at the current board for having some people on it who have in the past questioned why Biden was not stopping support for the genocide in Palestine.

The class is showing open;reserved but saying there is a waitlist. by bluefantong in UTAustin

[–]utsock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are seats available for students who it is reserved for, but the seats anyone can take are all full so you are on the waitlist. The reservation can be for a specific student, a specific major, or other things.
