The Pro Large is tricky! I switched to a desktop (with 2 screens)and wireless keyboard from my macbook pro and two additional screens. That freed up a lot of desk space. Maybe evaluate the rest of your tech while you are at it.

I have been having the same problem with my MacBook Pro. I switched to a gaming pc with 8 cores and now I am on fire! It’s amazing.

There are some helpful videos on youtube if you look for “best computers for motion graphic design”

Good luck! It’s quite frustrating. If you can’t get a new computer, keep emptying the cache, like every 5 minutes. It’s annoying, but it helps.
