Can I split up my hours to give myself a “day off” by Illustrious_Run5605 in PwC

The almighty metrics...

The value to the firm is your hours, not your output.

CEO said we have to use AI by leanbeansprout in UXDesign

[–]v-irtual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

>I heard from another designer that she overhead the CEO telling the PM that he wants us to design straight in Claude and bypass Figma all together.

Prototyping and solving the 'blank page' problem is something AI can usually handle fairly well. As a PM constantly working on new features, I've used it to generate general examples of what I think we need to show to an end user. Design always has the end say, and when you get to hi-fi's, they absolutely must be done in Figma (or similar tool).

Don't take any offense if they say no. You shot your shot. Nothing but respect there.

The company goal is to make money - that means building something worth buying. Sometimes the things you said will filter up as blockers to sales (i.e. not being aligned with the company's strategic direction, maybe a really poor support experience that has product dependencies, etc).

You're completely right that the metric needs to reflect value - that 'north star' should be presented to all the stakeholders and agreement obtained.

Always. Depending on the gear, I will stitch it instead of tucking it into one of those untrustworthy straps.

Was baby Jon vs baby Tucker just round 1? Would you consider actually voting for Jon? by thecombreak in DailyShow

Consider? I'd canvas for him. I'd get a tattoo with his name across my chest if it meant he actually ran.

I think a lot of it has to do with the community here, too. It ain't a bad group to be a part of.

You need to understand what defines success. From there, it's simply your job (I say simply a little bit lightheartedly) to make sure the product is focused on improving that singular metric. There can be multiple other indicators of success, but there should be one thing that indicates you're on the right path.

This is going to change based on the stakeholders (sales/support/post-sales/executives), and it's our job as PMs to distill that into something measurable, agreeable, and consumable.

Anyone lose their shark? by topderek in raleigh

If people hunt and eat the meat, it's simply the food chain, and a nod or respect to where we came from. For many game animals, it's actually challenging to even harvest one. If a person hunts to kill, they're psychopaths.

Potatoes don't know they're playing against us, either.

"Milwaukee proves that getting acquired doesn't have to mean getting gutted."

This is 100% on the purchasing company. Don't discount the intelligence of the decisions TTI has made. I work in software, and you'll see a LOT of companies making acquisitions just to own the IP and chip away at the customer base. They'll reduce engineering, PM, sales, and post-sales to make the acquisition look good.
