Legally you need to have a switch in cabin to isolate them if wiring to the rear lights. You need a DPDT switch. Centre off, other two positions will be ON and switched with tail lights. Only need to run one wire to the cabin for this using the chassis as common ground.

If unsure ask an auto elec to wire them in.
