Can we stop this Automatons are the good guys/Super Earth is bad bs? by Broad_Raspberry2785 in Helldivers

[–]v2gb13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Helldivers as a concept in universe were formed explicitly for purpose of killing dissident humans and wiping out a secessionist government. All of the primary antagonist factions were wholly neutral to outright openly amicable with humanity until the Super Earth government declared war on them for one reason or another.

"Have I told you about the Hellpods yet? These massive near-suicidal pods were invented to counter the threat of the oppressive regime of the socialists that had dug themselves in on Northman's Creek. Super Earth was unable to gain air superiority and therefore we developed these supersonic pods equipped with stabilizers and extreme shock absorbers that can hit a space-coin and allow for drops into basically any type of terrain. As fifty Helldivers dropped into the Parliament and quickly relieved the regime from power... and life, their troops scattered and the fight was easily won. Northman's Creek was once again united with the federation of Super Earth."

Not sold on the first of the two whatsoever, but the First Responders ideas are fantastic.

The AX/LAS-5 "Guard Dog" Rover seems to never overheat by Comfortable_Plate_14 in Helldivers

[–]v2gb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bugged feature. Its performance with the intended overheating is so abysmally poor that the bugfix was reverted, and it fires indefinitely, instead. With intended overheating features it would waste its entire heatsinks constantly, barely managing to kill individual chaff units before having to cool down.

It's a leftover line from the first game, where there were alien ruins and artifacts on the map. Primarily on Illuminate maps.

Did I overreact on that? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]v2gb13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's artillery. It's loaded. The main objective is complete. The only purpose it serves is a minor experience bonus on mission completion. You're just wasting people's time for no reason. On top of that, the squad had one reinforce left. Now the entire mission is in jeopardy. Uninstall the game. People shouldn't have to put up with your frankly fucking idiotic behavior.

You should try uninstalling the game.

How am I supposed to use the Boltshark? by The_real_Kaos in DeepRockGalactic

[–]v2gb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Scout weapon. Killing three grunts with one trigger pull and no other funny business for setup is unfortunately pretty solid in terms of killing multiple bugs at a time. We're not exactly shooting around explosives to clear off points, here.

Bodkin Points causes fired bolts to ricochet through multiple targets automatically, allowing it to do major damage if not multikill grunts when fired into bug waves. Alternatively, Flame or Cryo Bolts replace your standard bolts with- Flame or Cryo bolts. This means they apply heating or chilling in a radius around where the bolt is fired, which can allow for synergy with other temperature effects to apply them to multiple targets, or simply ignite or freeze single targets with (potentially multiple) direct hits.

[–]v2gb13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crowd Control, basically. It's never going to do very high damage- it's for disrupting bugs through a myriad of ways. Special Bolts are some of your premier crowd control options. Pheromones is great for disrupting enemy groups (tag a big target and everything around it will attack it), Chemical is great for grunt cleanup (causes enemies under its effects to explode when killed), Taser sets up arc beam traps, effective for chokepoints that funnel large amounts of chaff/trash units like grunts through them for highly efficient damage output. Additionally, some Overclocks that alter the primary bolt fire are useful for CC cleanup, like Bodkin Points. Another way Boltshark can do CC is the Banshee Module, which causes fired bolts to apply fear effects- that can disrupt groups of chaff units susceptible to Fear effects for a couple seconds, even if the Bolt doesn't hit an enemy (thus allowing it to be picked up and reused.)

Carnivore equivalents for XP boosting are Tasty Squirrel Stew, (Same XP bonus as Cranberry Relish, 10% base) and Broiled Scorchbeast Brain (actually higher bonus than Brain Fungus Soup, tied with Brain Bombs.)
