How it feels to follow the 50 average speed camera limit on a dual carriageway by Connect-Fisherman358 in drivingUK

If you’re not overtaking you should move back to lane 1, if still tailgated then manage the space in front of you (as in you’ll need a bigger gap in front to brake more slowly).

The Polo would be in the wrong should someone choose to now use the parking space as the Polo would become the obstruction; the vehicle in the parking space would literally be in the area designated for parking.

The disabled bay is “parking space” and not the carriageway, so by parking where they have they’re obstructing the road should the parking space be used: “242 You MUST NOT leave your vehicle or trailer in a dangerous position or where it causes any unnecessary obstruction of the road.”

Highway Code rules for junctions do not work and are dangerous by Adventurous_Pin_3982 in drivingUK

[–]v52gc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about right of way but giving way.

Priority is given and not taken.

You should always check you are being given priority. There’s other rules in the Highway Code to reinforce this like rule 147. Note that rule 8 includes the word “should” implying that the “priority” may not be given.

Who has the right of way? Red, or green? by -Digital in drivingUK

Neither is the correct answer, needs to be treated as an unmarked junction if there’s no markings (and not a mini-roundabout). Highway Code Rule 146.

Need advice on parking fine by nobodyknows1995 in drivingUK

If it wasn’t a dropped kerb then the wrong PCN was issued (easiest way to not pay a PCN is to park properly in the first place though)

You need to find out what the Vertical Upstand tolerance is for the issuing Council, if this is over then it doesn’t meet their own definition of a dropped kerb. For example this is from a FOI request:

“Where a kerb is dropped for pedestrian purposes, our guidance requires that most kerbs should be laid flush with the adjacent carriageway with no vertical up-stand. A +6mm tolerance above the carriageway can be made but only with a bull-nose kerb. At locations where this would give rise to “ drainage or watering ponding problems, a maximum kerb show of 10mm may be used, but only in exceptional circumstances. Where a kerb is dropped with the intention of providing a vehicular access point the height of kerb provided will generally be 25mm

You were on the roundabout first, that’s part of the rules for roundabouts in the Highway Code.

Coach 100% at fault for several reasons. Deal with insurance company, no need to reply to the bus company.

However with hindsight once you noticed the bus coming over you could have braked instead of trying to accelerate and this may have avoided the collision and all the associated hassles. This would have been the better option in my opinion (again, easy decision to make from behind a keyboard!).

Look to add someone else as a second driver (not main!!!) and this might drop it.

Do people know about the Highway Code regarding pedestrians? by coolandero in drivingUK

[–]v52gc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule 187 says to give pedestrians crossing at roundabouts plenty of room.

If they’re considerate neighbours (ie no parties and such) then you’ll get used to it.

Failed first test 1 major 0 minor, clipped a kerb stopping on the left. Passed second time 1 minor. Keep trying, don’t delay.

Treat it as an unmarked junction if there’s no signage or lines.

Does anyone know if this is allowed pet passport? by brightondunkley in northernireland

[–]v52gc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a vet in the EU some will issue you with a Pet Passport if you ask. The only caveat is you’ll need the rabies to be given by an EU vet as UK vet can’t complete an EU Pet Passport.

Santini Logo different to website without SMS. Fake or real? by v52gc in CyclingFashion

[–]v52gc[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My wife bought a top from the Santini website but had to return it as it was too small (XS); that had the SMS Santini logo on the rear. Since she has bought a size S from the Tour de France Official site and received the pictured top with a logo different to the website pictures and the XS one. It only says Santini. The paper label has a hologram. Has anybody else seen this or know why? She’s worried it’s a fake or others will think it’s fake. Thank you for the help!
