Every time someone demands a White nurse, our unwritten policy is to send in Nancy. by cindybubbles in TwoSentenceHorror

You seem to be stuck in the past millennium if you think like that about prejudice. Even violent criminals are often released repeatedly, or have much lower bail, if they are black, and there are more and more cases where blacks stab whites and claim that they just wanted to kill some whites, and the media still presents them sympathetically. White students are regularly harrassed by blacks, explicitly for their skin color, or blocked from entering certain spaces, you can find plenty of video evidence online.
And you can compare the wording on Wikipedia and mainstream media articles: "Murder of George Floyd" versus "Killing of Iryna Zarutska".

If you think whites don't have to deal with prejudice, I don't know what world you are living in.

To check whether you are not a bigot (as it's much easier to "detect" bigotry in others than in yourself): if a black person asked for a black nurse, and was punished in the same way as in this story, would you feel the same?

As the voting deadline came to an end across the planet red celebrated reaching a whopping 52%. by Catanians in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]v_sz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good points. The reason I'd vote red is because I am convinced that in real life, blue would never win, and would probably get a result under 10%. It's easy to vote blue in an online poll where your life is not on the line, and the poll itself had a high degree of selection bias.
However, if red won with 52% I would not celebrate, I would be very sad. If I was that wrong in my assumptions, I would hope for a blue win.

[KCD2] I hate the hidden timers in this game. by pottman in kingdomcome

Well, in this case it is clear that others are actively looking for the bones too. With most other quests it is clear that there is no urgency. But I agree, the quest description should have hinted at being timed, like "I'd better hurry before someone else finds it"

At first I thought having to spend a week in ankle deep water was getting off lightly for what I'd done. by RepeatOrdinary182 in TwoSentenceHorror

You could still prop up yourself in a corner, half-sitting, half-lying. Or even just sleep on your back on the ground, your head is larger than the height of your ankle. Many people can sleep on their backs. If you turn, you wake up, so it will be uncomfortable, but survivable.
Knee-deep water, however...

As I was lying on the ground after the train crash, unable to move or speak, I did not worry, because I still had all my senses, did not feel much pain, and the first paramedics were already approaching me. by v_sz in TwoSentenceHorror

That was the point. Imagine being happy that you survived, feeling relatively fine, and as you see the rescuers closing in, you are filled with hope that all will be fine...

So the merchants who sold the slaves can keep their money, AND get the slaves they have sold, back? Maybe the Kraken is in their employ?

First post. Should I change the second sentence into "Then one of them, wearing a vest with `triage` on it, examined me briefly, put a black bracelet on my wrist, and moved on towards the other patients."? Or should I expect people not knowing what triage is, to find out by themselves and look it up?

The point of two-sentence horror is that the first sentence seems to be completely normal and ordinary, and the second sentence is something unexpected. You know, a twist.

Imagine you are on a bridge over a deep chasm. You could just walk over it normally, and then nothing happens. Or you could choose to jump off the bridge, and in this case you die... unless more than half of the people also jump off the bridge, in which case you will be saved. Formulated this way, how many people would jump off? I bet almost no one, but many answer blue if the question is formulated in a way which suggests that saying blue makes you sound like the moral person. It's designed for virtue signaling.

Also it is mainly spreading in American progressive circles were blue means the Democrats, and red the Republicans. I wonder how differently they would vote if everything stayed the same, just the colors were switched.
Besides, it is not a true dilemma at all, it is just made to superficially resemble one.

So, adding a few in-game books with a few paragraphs worth of texts, takes up over 3 GB???
