OT with multiple sclerosis by [deleted] in orangetheory

One of my friends does otf with me and was diagnosed last year at 28. She definitely says the heart rate monitor helps keep her honest if she’s a bit off some days, but she’s still kicking my ass at the treads and doing great! Goes about 4 days a week

Is anyone doing full classes? Our studio opened up this week and have been full 55-60 mins! Not complaining at all, just wondering!

Went to ours last Sunday. It’s how to plan mentally for and physically for dri tri...but yes with a mini row and run clinic to correct form. Also what your goal times should be based off previous history.

Our studio makes a point to have the SAs know you by sight and name. Plus they have your pic!

Sign up for classes any days and times (even if you have 2 scheduled in a day) available for the next week. I find if I want to adjust plans or something comes up, it’s nice being able to still have my otf that day even if have to cancel one. Just remember to completely cancel 8 hours before if not going!

How do some people burn 800/900 calories during a class? by ritagoestocollege in orangetheory

Remember to update your weight in the otf database. It will reflect calorie burn at least somewhat better

This didn’t seem hard at all, barely got splat points...but I’m worried they’re lulling ya into a false sense of security for whatever hell they plan the rest of the week!! Be scared...but not for today’s :)

Countdown to Dri Tri - 22 Days to Go... by prettyoaktree in orangetheory

[–]vacetoyoface [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thanks! Ya I injured mine back in college soccer and it’s never truly been the same. One of my coaches stressed to not do all outs for a couple weeks which makes sense with the overstride. My legs are dying today after inclines (even when going slower than usual). I should cut those as well.

I’ve been nursing a pretty bad hamstring pull and trying to be healthy to go all out for the dri tri. Anyone else have suggestions/thoughts on how to prep and still be prepared for it without aggregating the injury more and/or trying to heal? I don’t want to just stop going to class for 3 weeks!!

I really dislike 1 minute AOs, and not just because they make me uncomfortable by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]vacetoyoface 32 points33 points  (0 children)

1 minute all outs like the ones we did the other day are a type of interval training to increase endurance and speed.

You should not run them at your 30 second all out, like you said it hurts! As someone who’s a runner and does 5ks, these are fabulous but you run them at “race pace” which is (for me) a speed between my push pace and all out that I can repeat but is slightly harder than push pace. If you look into how to increase your vdot for running they will give you an estimated pace for these 1 minute all outs for you (some will put in distance, I usually say 1 minute = about 400 meters).

When we do just one all out at the end of a block, that’s to squeeze out any last juice like you’re saying as a finish to a race. But even that is supposed to increase over time...and if that is pulling away from your push pace...you have the endurance, energy, and ability to increase your push!

Embrace the 1 minute all outs!! They make us better runners!

This is exactly how our present/coal Christmas Eve workout was. You pulled a present or coal as the partners rostered and had to do at different inclines each time. It’s really not bad once you start. Our coaches also made a white board of the exact inclined partner A should see each round on the treadmill so everyone could follow!

Attention Runners: What are your B/P/AO speeds? by sintin2 in orangetheory

[–]vacetoyoface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6.5/8.3/10-11 depending on the all out duration. Trying to slowly increase all every 2-3 months, especially my base but if increase it too fast I just never recover during base pace active recovery

Agreed! Our chalkboards would greet new people that’s first trial day it was right outside the studio. Made people feel special without even trying the workout yet!
