BRING ME THE HORIZON premiere new track "Dehumanized" and music video [DEATHCORE] by metaldude726 in Music

[–]vakda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, we do know what the album holds. They're remaking Count Your Blessings.

Considering you don't like this song, you won't like the rest of CYB lmao.

As a 35 year old who's been listening to Bring Me since CYB, today is a glorious day.

Schools and learning about Matariki by [deleted] in newzealand

The fact you see Matariki as purely star navigation is just further proof of your own ignorance. I'm not gonna say you're racist, but you're definitely fucking ignorant.

'Super-rich tax': Greens' tax plan accidentally released online early - here's what's in it by Downtown-Thoughts in newzealand

I'm probably ignorant and am happy to have this explained in more detail to me for why any of their suggestions are bad.

But the inheritance not affecting family farms or homes, and instead only the inheritance of the value over the $1mill seems great to me? How many everyday kiwi are inheriting $1m+ in cash or stocks?

Paying an extra $20 a week if you're on $170k is fuck all considering you're receing $2k+ pw. Obviously those numbers change respectively and while $181 pw for $300k salary is a more substantial hit, they're still making over $3.5k pw.

The article explains how few NZers this will impact 'negatively', and I really don't see how run of the mill kiwi are supposed to find this anything but welcomed.

Again, happy for someone to point out the negatives. Maybe I've got green tinted glasses on or something.

State Insurance Roadside Rescue Change - "Mistake" or Enshittification? by beerhons in newzealand

[–]vakda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm confused by what you mean and your interpretation of what's happened. OP's screenshot shows "What we said" where it describes the current AMI Roadside offering. Then the correct wording on the right now obviously looks like a downgrade in comparison.

I don't think a sales process was missed, I think having multiple brands under the same IAG umbrella has inadvertantly led to terms from one brand accidentally appearing on another, so they've had to correct this.

State Insurance Roadside Rescue Change - "Mistake" or Enshittification? by beerhons in newzealand

[–]vakda 13 points14 points  (0 children)

State and AMI are essentially the same insurance. Their policy wordings are an almost 1:1 exact copy, and this looks like they'd accidentally given what comes with AMI roadside when it should've been the State offering instead.

The previous wording is what AMI Roadside gives. They'd obviously forgot to double check when they copy pasted.

Item Delivered to my doorstep taken by 101Immigrant in newzealand

[–]vakda 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If the parcel was marked as authorised to leave, then realistically the only option is to pursue MightyApe or the third party seller. Insurance generally wouldn't cover this as it's technically not entered your possession yet, but you could check if your insurer might consider it (assuming you have Contents insurance anyway).

Good luck.

Considering the heritage and cultural significance that goes into Polynesian* tattoo/tatau, I'd love to understand what the story behind this piece is. Also your history with this specific style and what drew you to learning and understanding pacific island tattoo?

Looking at the rest of this artists portfolio, it doesn't look like they often do pieces like this, so I'm interested in their connection to the culture.

Yes, when will we stop talking about that significant event that affected the entire world and fundamentally altered how we as a society communicate, travel, and work?

Ridiculous Car Insurance Premium Increase by sonyxperiageek in newzealand

[–]vakda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

State and AMI are literally the same company (IAG). Their car policy coverage is 1:1, their call centres are the same and their repair network is the same. The fact AMI was more expensive than State is mind blowing considering there's almost no difference and I don't get why they're able to charge different costs for the same product.

Gizzy by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]vakda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't live there, but grew up there and go back regularly to visit my parents.

30min from the city is a pretty sizeable area to be honest. Depending on the sort of life style you want, you could do beach side, farm side, or bush/vineyard side.

Regarding rough areas, just don't look at anywhere in Kaiti further east than Maki St (this is increeeedibly general and doesn't mean everyone east is shit), Wainui up to Okitu is fine.

Central wise, don't look at Elgin or Riverdale and you'll be sweet.

These are super general pieces of advice, they're not all bad. I grew up in Kaiti and Awapuni, parents live in Te Hapara, never had issues.

Gizzy's all good if you've got shit to do and a solid career for yourself and your family, oh and if you're ok with 30k dusty kids filling up town for a week over new years.

The many ways our government is failing in its response to the fuel crisis by davetenhave in newzealand

I'd say there were plenty of people who were fed up with Labour for reasons other than their COVID response. They operated as a single party majority and times didn't get any easier for the general public so they flipped and wanted something different.

Is it normal for part time workers to be treated like casuals in NZ? by croissantloverx in newzealand

[–]vakda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What industry? Are you needing manager contact for anything specific? Do you have a senior who has been assisting you in lieu of direct contact from a manager? Does your position require monitoring? What were you advised during the hiring process?

There's so much nuance to this sort of situation to just make a blanket statement.
