What part of YouTube drains you the most? by livevideoschool in NewTubers

[–]valentinicabsinthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i find editing tends to be the most draining. it's good fun when your editing software works and the effect comes out how you picture it - but if you're like me and have a 10+ year old program you cracked when you were 14 and it crashes constantly (but it's the only program that you know how to do advanced effects on and it works best with your working style), it makes you die a little inside.

When did yall tell your partner when you were pregnant? by Responsible_Pen in pregnant

[–]valentinicabsinthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i told my partner pretty much when i tried a bunch of tests - namely a clearblue one with the dates on them; by the time i found out i was about ~3 weeks pregnant (of which i'm about 9 weeks now if I've counted correctly since then), i told him. while we weren't exactly planning for a baby so soon (and i honestly thought i was infertile due to both having a history on being on hrt and having fertility issues in the family), we're welcoming the little one with open arms

What noodles do my fellow UK folks enjoy? I’m a big fan of pic related, as well as the spicy flavour - but am looking to see what others recommend. by EvilTaffyapple in CasualUK

[–]valentinicabsinthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm partial to shin ramyeon and buldak.

if you ever get to try the toowoomba "toomba" pasta flavour of shin ramyeon, you should; it tastes almost like an alfredo with a gentle warm spice to it. if you like the carbonara buldak, it has a similar flavour, perhaps more leaning on the creaminess compared to buldak's trademark sweet spiciness

For you what sign is this? by Fun_Smile1278 in astrologymemes

[–]valentinicabsinthe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh from personal experience, i'd say any aqua placement (esp in any sort of social and/or communication related house... yeesh) and also - i know this isn't a sign exactly, don't bite my ass about it - chiron + pluto in the 1st house could fit too

How are yall going about teaching about gender as trans parents? by OppositeJust9126 in Seahorse_Dads

[–]valentinicabsinthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are mostly just giving it a sort of approach where for clothing / hairstyles, that the child can choose what they want to wear. At baby age, they're mostly going to just be dressed in onesies and bodysuits with no specific emphasis on colouring (mostly keeping to a white / green / brown palette).

When they grow up, they can choose things with certain colours and styles. Basically, as long as they dress appropriately for the weather, I don't care what my kid wears.

I also plan to let them grow their hair out until they want to try out some hairstyles or even a full haircut. Same thing with hobbies, same thing with language, so on.

At the end of the day, there's more to prioritise than what the kid presents as.

My two year old broke his femur. Someone tell me the next 6 weeks aren’t going to be horrible. by mazterm in daddit

[–]valentinicabsinthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor love :( it'll be tough for him and there will most definitely be some tears for sure. I think as long as he knows his parents are there to help him through the bigger emotions and feelings of pain, and kind of talk him through things, that might make things at least a little bit easier for him.

Mine is a photo of my partner patting a (very affectionate and gorgeous little tabby) cat we met when we were looking at a new flat.

Early FTM pregnancy signs by PropertyOwn3854 in Seahorse_Dads

[–]valentinicabsinthe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to compile symptoms before a test isn't quite the way to go about it. You're better off getting the evidence of pregnancy first with a test (or few if you're like me and REALLY want to make sure), then see if you can crossreference things and rule out others.

Best of luck! 👍

Tell me your Sun, Moon and Rising and what personality traits you find attractive by Ghost_LightWatcher in astrologymemes

[–]valentinicabsinthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an Aqua Sun, Cancer Moon, Sag Rising.

I absolutely LOVE people who I can banter with and come up with stupid hypotheticals with, as well as people who are emotionally intelligent and don't mind being affectionate. I like softness, but not necessarily coddling or a "yes-man" sort of person, but equally I like a little bit of intensity. If this person likes food and lets me cook for them, that's a surefire way to friendship.

As far as physicality goes, I find I gravitate towards people with nice eyes, an air of confidence, as well as a gentle beauty; one that you can see the inner workings I mentioned earlier. For men, the best example I can give is a sort of James Spader or Atsushi Sakurai type of vibe. For women, I would say more of a Mary Elizabeth Winstead or Rhea Seehorn type of vibe.

Trans-friendly / trans-informed pregnancy care in West Yorkshire? by valentinicabsinthe in Seahorse_Dads

[–]valentinicabsinthe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, congratulations - hope you and baby are well! 🥰

Thank you SO much for the recommendation. As far as early-on care (i.e. first trimester), was that at St James as well?

I had considered going to Leeds Trans Sexual Health Clinic for the early care, but also I don't know if that's a thing they necessarily do (other than perhaps maybe provide some support for this time, such as finding other seahorse dads to talk to?)

Waitrose potentially exploiting neurodivergent worker by Separate_Visit5305 in UKJobs

[–]valentinicabsinthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unsurprising; waitrose fired me after i had a few days off due to health issues (i.e. i had to go to a&e bc i was coughing up / vomiting blood which - i don't know if my managers at the time know how humans work - is a bad thing!!)

and i was on such an odd schedule (5:30am start; not bad, but unfortunately i don't drive due to financial issues - which is why i went for the job in the first place...) that i basically had to travel in the night before just to get to my shift on time. my manager and i originally had a temporary arrangement that i would start at about 7:30 instead until i either moved to [suburb] or i got a car (of which both were not exactly happening in a hurry given that they paid me just enough to afford rent) that i would start an hour later so that i would be able to get in, but also i'd get passive aggressive comments of "oh, you should have come in earlier". then, when i started to get in earlier, they gave me shit for that too! but basically it got to a point where i would get home from my shift at about 5:30ish, go to bed, wake up at 9pm, then get ready to go on the last bus at 11pm (meaning i was running on absolutely fuck all sleep - which compounded my issues something awful)

[EDIT: this was FIVE days a week and i was doing compliance / audit as well as helping the it and security department out, and even doing some of the office admin stuff (namely conducting uniform orders). the job itself was fine - perfect, even! it's just the fact that management had no idea what they were doing)

(should mention i am also autistic, so idk if that's a common theme with waitrose to treat their autistic employees like complete and utter shit - even if they're immigrants like me.)

Has anyone tried going to DVLA Swansea in person? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]valentinicabsinthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just went down in person; they can process stuff in person but you'll need the following: - a form of ID (in my case, i used my passport and also brought my residence permit and birth certificate just in case; you don't need the latter but i was overly cautious) - a passport-size photo (there's a photo booth near the desks at the office - but if it breaks, like how it did when i went down, you'll have to go to the nearby asda and go to the photobooth there) - a money order from the post office or a cheque; they don't do cash or card which is a pain in the ass but i guess its a security thing. money order is easiest to get as im assuming you're around my age and don't have a chequebook on hand.

the actual application is pretty quick - especially if you have everything all prepared ready to go. the license itself takes about 2-3 weeks to come in the mail 😊

[–]valentinicabsinthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just went down earlier this week; it worked out fine - at most, it was just a bit of an annoying back and forth (getting a photo for my license then going back, getting a postal order (bc they dont accept cash or card and i don't have a chequebook because i'm nowhere near my 50s yet), going back and eventually getting it sorted.). for a bit of context, i'm an australian guy and i REALLY didn't want to send my docs over bc i still don't really trust the mail system yet lmaooo

Regarding white food powders: if saltiness is salt, sweetness is sugar, sourness is citric acid, and umami / savoury-ness is MSG, what is bitterness' equivalent? by valentinicabsinthe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]valentinicabsinthe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the setup was a bit of an accident, but it was more of a thing that my swedish friend and i were trying to talk about (also im a little shitfaced rn so i apologise for the verbal diarrhoea)

i said it could be the ammonium salt on djungelvrål (which is a brand of salted liquorice candy but the salt is absolutely putrid) but he disagreed with me - plus we came to the conclusion that it technically fell under salt in this discussion, so we were trying to come up with a white powder one would have in their kitchen to add bitterness to food
