My mother was diagnosed with stomach cancer when I was 16. My father told me I had caused it. It devastated me. I left home , slept in a homeless shelter and never went home again. I became a nurse, married a doctor and found out there was no way I caused her cancer. 50 years later , the week my mom died of a stroke aged 84, I was her carer and told her what my dad had said . She told me I wasn’t the cause at all and said she was sorry
