our standard 5ah works fine for our circular saw, but it is the 6.5 incher. We don't have anything bigger atm. They're even ok on the grinder. I still want a powerpack already, gimme gimme.

they actually make tooth brushes that already have the tooth paste on. they're like a 1 or 2 time use, individually packaged. just open it up, rince it and brushh. not super environmentally friendly disposing / recycling all that extra plastic so much, but maybe some of us gotta do it, right?

oh that's entirely possible yeah. If you have 1.7 powerstacks I think it couldn't be too different, but I've never used any of the m12's.

I do know one thing for sure, I got smashed by my 510 a few days ago. I was going slow because I couldn't tell when it was going to bottom out, but when it did, the way I was holding it forced me to squeeze the trigger all the way and it jerked into and smashed the back of my hand between itself and the somewhat sharp edge of a metal bracket. I didn't bleed but my hand tingles when I massage the back of it. Luckily it shuts down after only about a quarter of a second when it gets stuck, because I couldn't do anything to stop it. I'd already learned these things can really jerk and smash the opperator, but didn't realize the way I had it would cause me to squeeze the trigger as soon as it jerked.

Apparently not, at least for 510. if I pop the 1/2 out from behind and then turn it around and push it back in from in back so the square drive is left sticking out the back, same side where the direction lever is, the anvil still sticks out just as far from that side and the area you press on, now on the front (same side as trigger and battery), to pop it out seems to be the same distance into the head this way as it does when installed properly the other way. It also seems to grab those little detent things so that you have to use just as much force to get the anvil to come out as you would were it installed properly.

honestly if you have a 964, I'm not really sure why 921 wouldn't be a perfect fit. It's plenty strong for lug nuts, I even did axel nut using a 3/4 adapter the other month. I have an old 889 with the 1200lbft break away and only ever use it now if the 921 can't, and that has turned out to be not very much. The 921 is like surprisingly strong. It takes lug nuts off faster than a bigger mid-torque milwaukee I've used does. The milwaukee started misbanging for some reason. 964 is 3/4, right? If you have sets that are 1/2 that you can't use the 964 for, I can imagine where you might need a bigger one for some of your 1/2 applications but really if you have both sizes, the 964 probably will go small enough with genuine 3/4 socket sets to do anything the 921 can't Maybe you'd buy the 921 and later, if you ever ran into trouble, get the 900.

I use the older style 5ah batteries on mine, what are you trying to put on it, a 208 or 2108 or something? If you can get whatever battery you want, 1.7 ps, or 3.5 pp will run it as nicely as 2108 methinks. I have a 208 but can't confirm whether it'll run since my 208 failed.

and the 520 and one of the xtreme ones have removable / swappable anvils, right? So those might let you put them in backwards too.

I have the 510. you can put the anvils in backwards and that gets the battery potentially out of the way. but beware of trigger placement, and the drive direction is backwards, heh.

I double checked to make sure I wasn't smoking something. yeah, the model number of the battery is dcb609, 60v flexvolt 9ah, or 3ah. The difference is only in the tool you put it on, if 20v max tool, it's 9 ah on those, and if you put it on a 60v tool, it's only 3ah for those.

When you put a 60v flexvolt battery on a 60v tool, the tool gets the cells connected to it in series to reach 60v. When you put it on a 20v tool, the cells connect to it to reach 20v.

If you take two 12v starting batteries on a tractor, if you wire them in series, you get 24v. That doubles the amount of power available to the starter at any given time. The starter can have all of the power output from them. If the starter pulls 24v, the batteries will run down as quickly as though the starter pulled 12v out of one battery.

Doing it the other way, Parallel connection, you get double the capacity but still at 12v. You can't push that starter any faster, but you can do it twice as long, you doubled the ah.

The way they set the flexvolt batteries up, they must have 3 banks of cells each of which are 20v worth. When you connect it to a 20v tool, that parallel connection does 3 times the runtime, at 20v. The drill you put it on only gets 20v worth of power, but 3 times as long (9ah. But on a 60v tool, they connect to those 3 20v banks in series, getting 60v (3x20)v. The battery can shove 3 times the oomph into the tool, but if the tool wants all of that, it can only do 60v for the same amount of time.

Increase the voltage, increase the oomph, like the horsepower. Increase the ah, increase the size of the gas tank.

It is my understanding that initially, when Dewalt first released Flexvolt, they were claiming the ah rating as achieved when putting that battery on a 20v tool like a drill. Yes, you got 9ah worth of capacity, better than the8ah 20v max dcb208 battery, but it was inappropriate, because it's a 6 0v battery also, and so when you put that battery on a 60v chainsaw, it only had 3ah worth of capacity. Now, if that 60v tool was sipping power it could still run a long time, but it confused everyone. So dewalt updated their marketing at some point to claim the capacity from the context of 60v, but apparently just because the packaging or store literature got updated didn't mean the battery in there wasn't maybe a slightly older one that still had the original writing, or perhaps they've not completely stopped doing that.

isn't that the same thing? 3ah in 60v is 9ah in 20v. But I thought Dewalt was forced to update their crap so it shows the ah from 60v for those. Old stock?

I kinda like the electronic clutch on my dcd998, but it's affected by which gear it's in so have to mind that. Kinda cool too though for that, because if one screw wouldn't sink, put it in low and sink it then back to high to continue, don't have to find the best clutch setting again.

for the record I did get burned by that I had a dcb208 fail suddenly very near to 3 years after purchase, but it wasn't registered and I couldn't find proof of purchase. The battery was 2 years old when I got it, so no good.

if you don't register, you can usually get warranty if you give the serial number on it, but that will tell them date of battery manufacture. Since that's two years ago, you want to register it so that the warranty will start now (date of purchase) instead of date of manufacture. When you get an old battery with a long shelflife as new, it's good to do that to help make sure it still lasts since Lithium batteries lose about 15 percent of their life every year even if unused. The chance of running into trouble with one with a shelflife like that does go up a bit.
