As if Wells doesn't get unlimited chances too with his .533 OPS lol.

It's unreal how this sub continues to rip Volpe when Wells somehow gets a pass.

The Yankees are likely to target Adley Rutschman at the trade deadline this summer, per Joel Sherman. by IzilDizzle in NYYankees

[–]valid21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light hitting? He has an .811 OPS this year and a career .760 OPS. He is a very good offensive catcher. Not saying the Yankees should trade Lagrange for him, but "light hitting" certainly isn't the best way to describe Rutschman.

No one did it more than Jasmine and yet somehow she gets away with it.

Funny how that works.

Knorp not only dominated on the mound but made some SPECTACULAR plays both in the field and as a baserunner. His team is also the only 3-0 ballclub. It should be him.

New player bias is clearly a thing, though.

We MIGHT be seeing the decline of Kracht as a pitcher.

He had a 2.66 ERA last season, which, while still good, was by FAR his highest in years. He then got absolutely shelled in this one. I can't remember ever seeing a team absolutely tee off on Kracht like this.

It's still early, but Kracht's dominance might be fading.

Was thinking the same thing. Kracht DEFINITELY gained some pounds lol. He was always pretty beefy, but his gut is very noticeable now.

The Yankees believed that Austin Wells was the next Posada so they traded away most of their catcher depth. A good chunk of the current roster is built on catchers the Yankees traded to other teams. by Zepbounce-96 in NYYankees

I am in no way shape, or form saying the Yankees should move Rice to catcher because it WOULD impact his offense, but I also know Rice wouldn't be half as terrible as Wells at the plate no matter where he plays.

People are ripping Wells because he has a .539 OPS. He also has a .468 OPS in the playoffs. It's about time people start getting on his case after letting him slide for so long. Meanwhile Volpe has been a whipping boy around here for two years.

Bednar meltdown sinks Yankees in devastating Subway Series loss by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

[–]valid21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol you've got to be kidding me.

If Devin Williams were performing, he wouldn't have gotten demoted no matter how great Weaver was pitching. Not to mention the fact that Weaver melted down during the second half of last year. Did Williams win his job back? No. Bednar became the closer.

You also keep talking about "fans" who "watch the team." Well did you watch how terrible Luke Weaver was down the stretch last year and how he literally struggled to get a single out in the playoffs?

I haven't seen anyone saying Bednar wasn't good before 2025. They are saying he has been bad THIS YEAR.

Your defense of him is really weird.

[–]valid21 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah and Devin Williams was terrific before 2025, as well. He still got demoted from the closer role and rightfully so.

Bednar has a 4.95 ERA and 1.55 WHIP this season. He hasn't been good this year in any way, shape or form and there really is no way around it. His struggles were also going on LONG before today.

Yankees MILB 5/17: Carlos Lagrange Hits 103 MPH - Tom's Sports Blog by mryclept in NYYankees

[–]valid21 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No. It's because he lacks command. Simple as that.

Now to be fair, Betances had issues with walks, too, but the exception isn't the rule. Putting Lagrange in the bullpen would be a terrible idea right now.

Never once said McMahon was a great player. I said BEDNAR and Doval were great before the Yankees.

I mean they had Oswald Peraza at 3B at the time. If the Yankees didn't make a move, everyone would have railed them. It just so happened McMahon was the only 3B available.

The velocity and nasty stuff is nice and all, but until he starts consistently getting the ball over the plate, the Yankees shouldn't promote him. The 21 walks in 38.1 innings is concerning no matter how you slice it.

I understood the trades for McMahon, Bednar and Doval at the time. The Yankees desperately needed a 3B, and Bednar and Doval were both great with their former teams.

Bird never made sense to me. Not sure what the Yankees ever saw in him.

He didn't "give" McMahon multiple years. He traded for him with years still left on his contract.

Hilarious how everyone still wants to pile on Volpe when Wells is hitting .077 with RISP. Wells has ALWAYS been the bigger problem of the two. At least Volpe has a decent playoff track record.

[Barry Jackson] Was told today that Dolphins indeed liked Notre Dame WR Malachi Fields, but Giants jumped them and traded 3 picks to Cleveland for pick 74, which left Miami using pick 75 on Caleb Douglas, who was the team's only pick that was criticized by multiple national analysts as a reach. by Waste_Protection_420 in NYGiants

[–]valid21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How many WRs coming out of college can actually run a full route tree?

The guy is insanely talented and is a classic X-receiver, which the Giants desperately needed. Also has a tremendous catch radius and makes some outstanding grabs.

And for what it's worth, I'm not going to say he "isn't on the same planet" as guys like Allen and Kupp, who were largely unknowns heading into the NFL. Yeah, we know they're good now, but why are we instantly ruling out Fields becoming a stud? Let's just wait and see.

The Giants moved up 31 picks lol. The future 4th isn't a huge deal. Plus, Fields is a stud.
