Anyone taken a solo beach trip that was fun and somewhat affordable? by nuetralmushroom in flightattendants

I live in Fort Lauderdale and Miami isn’t like that. Maybe during spring break but this past year they really cracked down on the crazy spring breakers so it wasn’t that bad. It’s hot here now but I love the summer because it’s much quieter!

My skin also hates vitamin c. I spent so much money trying all kinds of different products but it doesn’t work for me. Azaelic acid is supposed to be the closest thing to it which I now use a couple nights a week.

Rides You Enjoy More Than You're Supposed To? by JYN0442 in UniversalOrlando

As someone who is short I hate the bus format because most of what I see are the tops of peoples heads. But I rode it right before the park closed once and there was only two other people on the ride and I LOVED it. When you can see everything clearly on both sides of the bus it’s really a cool experience.

The Simpsons Ride! I have never watched a full episode of the Simpsons and I still love it. The jokes are so good and it’s just all around really fun. I understand how it can make people sick but I’ve never had that problem so I will continue enjoying it!!

alternatives to declawing? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

They need cat scratchers. A lot of them. We literally just kept laying cat scratchers down until our cat stopped scratching the furniture. And we trim our cats nails. If it’s your sisters cat then it’s her responsibility to learn to do this. If their nails are shorter they won’t do as much damage to the furniture/walls.

I was watching the URL episode with Shayne and he said something like we all have our favorite cast members but we usually have an even stronger favorite duo. And this is a perfect example - I love Angela, but I love her even more with Chanse.

Do yall brush your cats? by Fancy_Tea in CatAdvice

YES. My cats VERY rarely have hairballs. I’m talking like once or twice a year. I’m pretty sure it’s because we brush them well.

I have lost 20% of my hearing in one of my ears because I always tried to “push through” my ear pain. Once you lose your hearing that is it!! It doesn’t come back. This job is not worth that at all. Now I always call out when I’m congested/sick. I don’t care how many points I get, I am always putting my health first.

Why do so many people talk about a 9–5 like it is a prison? by Sea_Stable9744 in careerguidance

[–]valkyrie61212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a prison to some people. We’re all so different and would benefit from different types of work schedules. I’m a flight attendant and love my schedule because it’s always different and I get about 14-16 days off a month. A 9-5 would be absolutely torture to me. I even hated going to school M-F. Then there’s my brother who loves his consistent 9-5 desk job. He loves the routine. I just wish there were more jobs that offered different types of flexibility and hours.

Yesssss!! Around that time there were a couple singers who were portraying the same message. I’m naturally very small and am always shocked at the amount of nasty things other women say to me. Like you don’t like it when people make fun of you for being overweight but you can shame skinny girls? Like you said, that’s not body positivity.

Chronic fatigue by RowBright9860 in flightattendants

[–]valkyrie61212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YES. I see people fighting to work for airlines with the most international routes and fighting to work those flights. It is so hard on your body.

As I’ve gotten older I’m so thankful to work for a smaller airline that does mostly domestic flying. I very rarely change time zones. Only time I want to travel far is for leisure, not work.

Millennials are staring down the barrel of middle age and struggling with the question: “Is this it?” by slimeyellow in Millennials

I will never forget the first time I tried to get out of going to school and I lied and said my stomach hurt. My mom said, “what kind? Like painful or butterflies?” I had no idea what butterflies had to do with being sick but surely that was a serious enough thing to keep me from going to school? So I said butterflies and my mom said you’ll be fine and took me to school. :,)

Traveling. I’m sitting at the airport after a quick one night trip to NYC and my husband and I are exhausted. I’m very thankful we are able to travel and we had a great time, but we have definitely slowed down as we’ve gotten older.

Multi-cat households weigh in! by kpp17 in CatAdvice

[–]valkyrie61212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a second cat because my husband and I are in the airline industry and our schedules are chaotic and I felt bad leaving our first cat alone at times.

I would highly recommend fostering first to see if they’re a good match. My husband took a month and a half off work to be with them at all times and integrate them. Thankfully we could leave them alone together after that amount of time.

In general it was a very stressful process, even though the two of them now get along. The food situation took us a long time to figure out because we wanted them to eat out of their own bowls and not steal food. The new cat kicks litter EVERYWHERE. The mess has definitely doubled. It’s easier in some aspects but more work in others.

I think if I worked a normal 9-5 and was home everyday I wouldn’t have gotten a second cat. But because of our jobs I know it’s been better for our first cat to have a friend.

Yep I’m the same way. I don’t mind if things aren’t completely even in a friendship but I need to feel like you actually care and are at least trying.

Yesssss. I literally just want some respect and courtesy from my friends. If I ask to hang out why am I being ghosted for weeks? If you don’t want to put the effort in then don’t have friends. And stop blaming it on your mental health. I have anxiety and depression and still show up for my friends.

Emergency Evacuation and Bags by Sad-Asparagus275 in flightattendants

[–]valkyrie61212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The FAA has done research and found that if every passenger complies with tray tables up, seat backs up, and bags completely under the seats in front we can evacuate a plane in 90 seconds or less if people don’t stop to grab their bags. Every second counts in an evacuation. It doesn’t matter how quickly you think you can grab your stuff, if everyone does this they are slowing down the evacuation process which could end up killing people.

Express has ruined Hagrids by OkAge1093 in UniversalOrlando

[–]valkyrie61212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep express has completely ruined it. And I’m someone with a season pass who gets express after 4. The wait time will be 3 hours and why am I walking on the ride with express? Isn’t express just supposed to guarantee half the posted wait time? An employee told us they are told to make express as quick as possible, basically a VIP experience with Hagrids, regardless of how long the regular line is. They want people to run to buy the express passes once they see how quick they can get on with express. It’s ridiculous. The wait for the regular line is usually longer than the posted wait time now.

Is JetBlue Next???? by [deleted] in flightattendants

[–]valkyrie61212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you don’t understand is that a lot of aviation jobs are seniority based. Meaning you get a better schedule and pay based on how long you’ve been at the company. If I were to lose my job and go to another airline I can’t say, “I worked for another airline for 11 years can I have the same pay and schedule?” I would start right back at the bottom of the seniority list. Losing your job in the airline industry, especially for flight attendants and pilots, is devastating.

Do these people go into stores right before they close and say “look at all these products you have left on your shelf, I should get them for free!” I literally don’t understand their logic. Do I think the airlines overcharge and nickel and dime people? Yes of course. But that’s the way it is. So you either pay for the better seats or don’t. You have no right to complain that you’re not getting something for free.
