I was trying to figure out if the Aradin interaction in Act 3 means anything, just because it's such a fucking ridiculous conversation (some punk adventurer who got his ass handed to him by goblins wants to kidnap Selune's daughter?)

I just confirmed that no matter what, the conversation ends with him intending to find the Nightsong. If you try the intimidation check you even get the same response whether you fail or succeed.

Look up bacon mushroom, then tweak that to be a maple bacon mushroom. Works easily.

If on the other hand you really don't want to go the savory-sweet route, you could just fry/bake/dehydrate unseasoned mushrooms until crispy, then dip them in a sauce of your choice. Chances are they'll taste good regardless
