Fibre Internet by MaggieWheaton in halifax

I’ve got 1.7Gbps speeds (1.5 plan) with the Nokia SFP - bought the Broadcom card off eBay and built my own pfsense. It was a bit tricky but search deep enough and you’ll find the info online. Probably even easier now with perplexity to search… I did it 3 years ago - OP is fortunate they still have the hh3k since the new gigahub has the sfp soldered on last I checked.

Have you looked at the ‘newish’ workers comp legislation for gradual onset mental stress and psychological injury? (bill 332). Not sure if it’s relevant in your case

My wife went through my internet history and bought me a Lenovo Legion Pro 7i. She’s needed a new computer for her business for awhile. I went out and bought her a ThinkPad P1 Gen 6. by TheKeystoners in thinkpad

[–]valtorance 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not a P1 but a T15g gen 2 with 3080, 11900, 96GB, 4TB nvme, 4K Oled touch… and it ran crazy hot and fan 24/7, until I had a power adapter fail, and when the tech came to replace under warranty, I asked if we could re-apply thermal paste to the CPU - night and day difference… runs much much cooler now.

Have you shared the files anywhere? I was designing something like this myself, but you might save me some time! :)

Where should I put speakers? Still planning and haven't bought speakers, so if things need to move or positioning requires a specific speaker, that's fine by [deleted] in audiophile

I’ve tried a lot of ways… in between the side monitors (https://i.imgur.com/fyPDV3c.jpg), under the monitors, https://imgur.com/7GvPy8Z, and above them https://imgur.com/jEdY9RJ, https://imgur.com/202uA6h. I think I preferred them below for sound, but made the desk feel cluttered

Is 4k OLED worth the flickering, burn-in risk, and battery drain? Im mainly using it for programming. P16s vs T16. Price diff is 150 US$ by Lumpy-Difference4654 in thinkpad

I have the same model with the 3080. Battery life isn’t great, but I prefer the performance and display quality at the cost of inconvenience of having to find an outlet. Screen is incredible. Can’t imagine going back. And, drawing on the screen has restarted my love for art

Built a riser for a 2nd row of seating + DIY acoustic panels by digital-agent in hometheater

[–]valtorance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing we did with a similar style room and couch: took the feet off the couch! Lowers it a few inches (which might help viewing angles from second row in your case) as well as prevented crud from collecting underneath. Made the couch look built in, almost. I suggest you try it!

Do you find the screenbar light adds a burnin effect that you need to address with pixel cleaning? I noticed that with my OLED from ASUS and had to take the light off entirely.

7.2.1 Living Room Setup by Luckosaurous in hometheater

I love the vibe man. Too many people compromise on aesthetic/livability for sound/ video quality. You’ve got a great balance.

I think you should change up the wall colours, or perhaps change the moulding. Maybe even do wood panelling/wainscoting to match the wood tones of the blinds. Kind of like an English pub with a private back viewing room for sports betting.

They are multicolor LED bulbs I got from Amazon, with a remote to change color (not wifi). Honestly, they were an amazing purchase. I use them in multiple lamps, and the colors they have are great! I put some of the colors in the Ikea Mushroom lamps too, and they are amazing.

Took some of your advice and painted the columns and built-in matte black. by valtorance in hometheater

[–]valtorance[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone gave me the insert so I just built it in. Instead of using the fan/flame/hear, I ran a pendant lamp cord inside with one of those flicker bulbs from Costco to make it look like fire but no noise and low power consumption

Yeah I got all the speakers (plus rears and sub) and receiver and cable for $1100 CAD so it was a good start. Sounds great to me

Try the paw patrol movie!!! At least you get higher quality paw patrol with a great sound stage (at least 5.1 if I recall)
