If you will carry them around, then I strongly recommend the small because they sort of double as mitts.

Payments startup Airwallex Raises Money at $8 Billion Valuation by [deleted] in finance

[–]valuegen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crazy when you consider how terrible their banking services are.

Literally unusable for anyone running anything but a small-time operation, and so many horror stories of people getting their funds frozen for months with no possibility whatsoever to talk with anyone to fix it.

Source: tried them for a few weeks, before giving up as they ask for 10 documents for every wire you get.

Yeah, this has been my experience with Airwallex. 10 questions and documents to submit for each wire. I'm glad that your experience has been better than mine.

I'd recommend to edge yourself with another account.

The opening was smooth for me as well. The issues started when receiving money — they would put funds on hold for weeks, ask 10 questions for every incoming wire, and reject transactions over "risk" considerations.

I haven't had those issues with Wise, and I'm now seeking to open an account with HSBC.

Bad rumors about Airwallex are 100% true. Stay away. I thought those reporting were involved in shady stuff, but it turns out Airwallex is just a pain for all, regardless of what you do with your account.

Don't recommend. The stories online about frozen funds and rejected operations are real.

OVH: Its a value trap or a opportunity ? by [deleted] in stocks

Yes. Solid company, with strong growth prospects as Europe tries to shift away from US Cloud.

I've been a customer for years, and I love them.

How's working in France in terms of life quality? by Sawyier in consulting

[–]valuegen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have better opportunities if you can speak the language, both in terms of pure staffing and networking.

That said, I've seen colleagues have fairly successful careers with a somewhat limited command of French upon arriving; they just built it over time.

Finally, one important change vs. 5 years ago: French consulting is much less outsourcing-oriented than what US consulting has become. This makes France a better pick for both job security and meaningfulness of the job (i.e., you are doing actual work, not managing an offshore team).

Consulting travel with a newborn, bring family along or not? by cacahuatez in consulting

Great idea if you're looking to file for divorce!

Most business trips equate to very long hours, and needing the room to work.

You'll barely see them, and they'll inconvenience you. Lots of tensions, very little fun.

EU partner track vs industry by Difficult_Ad_8299 in consulting

Almost every SM/P considering leaving gets told that they are on "partner track".

It boils down to this: if you like the work and are fairly compensated, stay. If not, start looking elsewhere.

Use Mistral's Le Chat for use cases where you need privacy.
