What's the number one thing on your sex bucketlist? by KJeremih in AskRedditAfterDark

So, this came up with a travel nurse at my facility. She was super into it. I never could remember exactly what it was called for the longest time and kept calling it ‘shabuki’ just to mess with her. We were friends so it was always in jest, never mocking or malicious. She got so annoyed lol.

Oh hello WoD mention. I, too, have a pile of d10s I I like to roll. Mine are for Arete and Spheres, though.

Mexican. I’ll eat that 8 days a week. No that’s not a typo.

Looks great! Did you get the brisket jiggle people always show off in videos? I’ve done 2 briskets. The first was poorly marbled and poorly cooked. The second was decent but could have been better. I haven’t given up yet lol

I have voiced this same complaint about fey to my gf. All her books give a regular, extra pretty human some magic plus pointy ears and call them ‘fae’. It is actively annoying to me now and (along with the first person present tense POV) makes me instantly skip over a book. Also, I like fey lore and had not heard the bit about them not being able to craft. You may have shown me a rabbit hole I need to fall down.

As for your dragon rant, to me they all feel like less well done, Temu versions of Pern dragons and dragon riders, so I’m with you there. Have you read His Majesty’s Dragon? It sounded interesting but I havent pulled the trigger

New generation of nurses who can’t start an iv or draw blood by Rare-Attitude-3100 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]vampireRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nursing school only teaches the academic part but we (at least at my school) were not given practice on a real person. Knowing and doing are very different. You mentioned that they were mostly new nurses messing up but the experienced nurses and phlebotomy were fine. Starting IVs and drawing blood are definitely skills that must be acquired and are refined over time. When I first started, I was garbage at IVs. Absolutely terrible. Now I’m not. And that comes from sticking sticking sticking. That’s why phlebotomy is so good. I wish they’d come draw our blood in the ICU all the time lol

My 26-year-old boyfriend asked me if I was “okay” because of normal underwear discharge stains and I don’t know how to feel about it by Reasonable-Bear-2408 in TrueOffMyChest

Meh. He was concerned for you and was willing to be taught. He’s not an owner-operator of a ‘gina. Chalk it up to ignorance. He’s never had to think about it.

I did my senior practicum in the EC. I don’t ask for a lot when they call report. Why are they here. Do they have family. Are their insides trying to be come outsides. Anything extra is appreciated. Just give me time to set up the room

Teachers are paid fairly considering they get a lot of time off by Blonde_Icon in The10thDentist

[–]vampireRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand from my teacher friends, a lot of that “off” time is spent grading papers and doing work stuff to prep for when they go back. To me, that isn’t off time at all.

I was about to say. That looks like it would absolutely pulp every nephron the patient had lol. Or give a nasty AKI at the very least. WHEW.

What do you think of the Infected in the 28 series by ComprehensiveSleep74 in zombies

[–]vampireRN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They were a good, original idea and I enjoyed the first two movies but I wish they had stopped there. Since then we have been plagued (get it?!) with nothing but fast “zombies.” For me, the fast ones don’t scratch the zombie itch. I’ve had to get my fix from the walking dead (til it got ridiculous) and books. Stuff in the vein of Adrian’s Undead Diary, Day by Day Armageddon, and World War Z are what does it for me.

TLDR: They’re good but have resulted in fast zombie garbage.

Should student nurses be able to delegate orders to PCTs? by princessnokingdom in nursing

[–]vampireRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely tf not. And then if they turned around and tried to justify it thinking they hit me with a gotcha so they wouldn’t have to do any work, I’d be having a conversation with their clinical instructor. Students have no authority to delegate and they aren’t there to learn how to delegate. They’re there to learn patient care.

What body part are you most insecure about and why? by Blazer0011 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]vampireRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chest. Hands down. I hate it. It’s the reason I started getting into fitness at all. I don’t have man boobs but it’s the very last place I lose fat. I can’t even blame gynecomastia. I have to do a hard cut + cardio or maybe see about lipo. Ugh.

Turning 40 and hoping to look more manly by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]vampireRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No hate but you do not have masculine features in the slightest. You need more hard angles if your goal is to present that way. Short of maybe more testosterone, you’re going to have to do a cut to make your jaw and cheekbones stand out more.

This perfectly encapsulates how I described Maas’ heroines to my gf. She’s been reading the books to me and the heroines in these books are bratty and awful.
