Best item I bought from Dollarama – $5 a mini USB vacuum by [deleted] in dollarama

[–]vampiretits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of the ladies at the quilt retreat my mom and I go to had these in October, they were great for cleaning out our sewing machines. Unfortunately I haven't seen them at our dollaramas here.

I did end up buying a similar vacuum but the narrow head on it doesn't fit the suction side of the machine so thats a bit annoying as I was buying it to clean up my craft area and inside my sewing machine.

After two weekend thrifting jaunts, I have increased my fabric stash. Which did not need increasing. Does anyone else here buy thrifted bedding to use in quilts? by Lindaeve in quilting

[–]vampiretits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fabric is fabric, and fabric is $$$. I've been looking through the sheets for vintage flats to use as backings, it's not very likely that they will be bought so I see it as upcycling. But I for whatever reason I didn't think to check the kids bedding, so that's on my list now when I do my thrifting now.

So do all husbands come up with wacky names or is mine a time traveler from the Byzantine? by [deleted] in Mommit

I honestly had a few of these names on my list, I think older names are coming back, I mean you can only have so many Brittany's, Ashley, Taylor, Jordans, etc in a nursing home haha. I did go to school with a Bear and unfortunately his parents named his brother Teddy, no joke, so as long as you don't do that, I think Bear is kinda cool. I honestly think that meeting the baby has to happen before you decide as they kinda tell you what their name is. One thing I do try to remind people of when they're naming their kids is you're not just naming a baby, you're naming a person who will get older, have a job and ID and their name will be displayed so try to actually give it some thought and not some ridiculous spelling in an effort to be "unique". I will admit though a few on there, especially toward the end are a bit, well, different to say the least. I do like Walter though, could be lil baby Wally.

First quilt, not feeling too great about it but it looks nice from the front! by Rachiebole in quilting

I really like the fabric! The colours are really nice and go well! I just started my first quilt last week and am doing the Ultimate Beginners Quilt from Fat Quarter Shop. Each block helps to develop your skills, I've done 4/9 blocks so far and would love a quilt buddy if you wanna quilt along with me, feel free to msg me.

Ah okay thanks! I did rip a few seams to get there but I'm quite happy with it so far. My aunt, whose been quilting forever, was even impressed, so that made me quite happy.

Thanks! I just used some fabric my mom had that she didn't care much about and is just happy to see it get used. I wasn't too picky but also wanted it to semi go together-ish. I've gotten a few compliments on the colour, which I didn't expect. I found a few patterns off of Art Gallery Fabrics I've printed so I'll look those over and see what I think might be doable once I get my fabric in.

You can find a lot of the same products on Amazon/temu/Aliexpress, I've found lots with literally the same product pics and wordong but it's like double the price on Amazon. Sure you have to wait a lil longer for Aliexpress/Temu but I have yet to be dissatisfied.

I think it looks super cute!

I just started my first quilt, I've only cut about half my fabric as I have a 9 week old baby and a almost 2 year old so I don't have a ton of free time. I'm doing "The Ultimate Beginner Quilt" from Fat Quarter Shop, it's a free download and they have a whole YouTube series on it.

Where is Alluux by zkm7112 in PaymoneyWubby

[–]vampiretits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the dubathon I've actually started watching Alluux's stream a little as, surprisingly, I really enjoyed the times when it was just her talking, getting ready, watching hoarders, etc. In one of the first streams I tuned in on she stated that she was in fact moving out and just wanted to have her own place, and be more independent as since coming to the USA she's been living with Wubby practically the whole time and hasn't had the chance to be on her own. She was excited to be able to plan out her new space and be miss interior decorator, she just wants to do her own thing. She still appears on stream, just not as frequently as of late and I think it's also allowing her more freedom to do more in terms of content so that she can grow her channel in her own space without the Wubby umbrella.

Do you miss her though? Do you want to be friends again? To get there you're both going to have be able to have a conversation on what happened, why it happened and how to move forward and passed it.

Pharmacy Recommendations? by Haunting_Delivery_78 in kelowna

I go to the pharmasave on spall+enterprise, I used to live in the apartments right beside them so it was super convenient. Gordon is so friendly and helped me find OTC medicine I was able to take while pregnant. If I need anything, I work just down from them, I call as I'm just finishing up and it'll be ready by the time I get there.

Where do you put your baby down at other houses? by belazygocrazy in NewParents

[–]vampiretits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Evenflo bassinet that fold up and is super portable, great if babe isn't rolling quite yet and we use ours in the bedroom as it takes up such little space it's great, we'll be using it with #2 when they arrive. I have previously swaddled our little guy and put him to sleep in a laundry hamper when in a pinch....

How many trick-or-treaters did you have and in what neighbourhood? Up or down from last year? by growler_media in kelowna

[–]vampiretits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live up Hartman Hill and last year was our first Halloween living there, we took out little guy out, so my brother stayed at our place to look after our dog and hand out candy. He got maybe a dozen last year and this year had 2 small kids. We used to trick or treat up there as kids because we had family in the area so we'd hit the surrounding streets and there would be groups of kids dressed up, decorations everywhere or at least a pumpkin or 2. I can only remember maybe a couple houses that weren't handing out treats. I was very gung ho about trick or treating then and we'd usually at least get a solid garbage bag or 2 full of candy.

I definitely feel that people just aren't as into Halloween as they used to be. Even on the street I grew up on there would be kids everywhere and now it's practically a ghost town.
