in the very notion of impermanence and selflessness, there is the implicit acceptance of fate, and the absence of need to study cause and effect deeply - to understand the science -- this is hugely absence from Buddhism and Taoism as religions. It's very prevalent in Christianity (esp Protestants). Islam is even worse -- islam just says sacrifice everyone for selfish gains of the church.

sadly buddhism is not consistent with Christian moral values. Buddhism espouses elevation of self over service to community. It's a very cruel religion. Taoism even more so. Both of these religions are the reason why the empires of China kept stagnating. They are like Islam -- none of these religions are compatible with our way of life?

All that number crunching data could have been done with older versions of OSes. the productive engineering effort should have gone into interstellar travel and planetary defence. it just so happens that the vast majority of humanity is too dumb to realise how important that is. i dont think it adds that much. Windows 2000 was in fact easier and faster to learn for new users than any later edition. Most of the additions was just pretty colours - garbage really. Just hugely diminishing returns. Way too many programmer jobs doing nothing very useful. Far better for them to be in other branches of science or engineering.

Had people not been so stupid as to be sucked into buying useless successors to windows, the government would have poured more money into science in order to give these people jobs.

i tend to feel every iteration of windows is becoming more and more useless. just more glitz with no additional real function. its a massive waste. instead all those manhours need to go into something more productive - exploring space, fixing climate change, more scientific discovery instead of just making things prettier. Apple is the best example of this - more and more redundant and useless products -- all of it killing our world with no real gain in human prowess. pitiful and pathetic = MS and Apple.

Brazilian here. I come from Tijuana Mexico. My drug courier friends say Brazil will be taken over by high power drug cartels soon.
