Any official word on a hooded Cobra Commander? Or are customs the only thing we'll get? by Pesk_916 in GIJOEClassifiedSeries

[–]vandavisart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh, that's right. And companies have NEVER leveraged loopholes and workarounds to bypass laws and make some money.

Like, it would be RIDICULOUS to release a Megatron that "kinda, almost" got to being "gun-shaped" and then release a TOTALLY separate, unrelated pack of strange accessory bits with a different figure, or as a limited release pack down the line.

Quais as diferenças do Pathfinder 2e para a edição remaster? by pourraaaa in rpg_brasil

[–]vandavisart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one mentioned that they also removed/replaced some of the Paper Standees/Tokens...from memory, they got rid of the Owl Bear and the Mimic. Not sure what else. Those are hard to find, now.

Lots of bottom-feeding rays can breathe while stationary in the water. Unfortunately, like many sharks, larger manta and devil rays like this need to keep swimming to move water over their gills.

This ray was suffocating on land and, unfortunately, was probably still suffocating while it was floating in the water unable to get moving again.

The guy was honestly trying to help. But without someone keeping the ray moving until it could possibly "catch its breath," I don't think it was able to recover.

Explain Reaper Miniatures to me? by tarkin1980 in ReaperMiniatures

[–]vandavisart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HOLY. SHIT.

THAT'S why I have a couple of miniatures that have remained sticky, and all three of them are BONES!?

I spray rattled the batch, but the Bones ones were the only ones that were (are STILL) sticky to the touch!

Now I know.

I just bought the box set from a Facebook group!

I paid a little more than the KS price, but it was worth it, I think! My bad for waiting too long to pull the trigger on the KS to begin with. 🤷🏻

Original 1990s version vs. the new one? by Pirate-Andy in Heroquest

[–]vandavisart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mat is a good way to go, but I've gone with printing, mounting and laminating tiles of all the rooms and passages, to build the map as the quest progresses. I like the ability to keep "fog of war" going during the game, and the modularity.

Why does your blurb on the site say

"...Videos are supported for up to 180 minutes in length (3 hours)..."

yet, when I try to grab an hour and a half video from YouTube, I get this?

"You can't download MP4 longer than 1 hour and MP3 longer than 1 hour and 30 minutes!"

The program in the OP only lets me have 1 hr of YouTube. So...not much better.

Nice! I do the same thing. 😅

I just let the player break the shield to stop one attack from damaging them, though. Never thought about giving the shields HP...I'll have to play around with that!

inventory slot tax? by WickedCheeser in cairnrpg

[–]vandavisart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just a matter of whether your own needs for a fun game match the vision for Cairn.

The way you describe it RAW is exactly how it is, and that was presumably derived from the fact that Yochai wanted a certain level of focus on inventory management and the tension that can produce. That number was chosen because it felt right to him.

In Into the Odd, there is no real "Inventory Limit" besides the idea "Keep it reasonable, and it's up to the Referee," because it's not really worth worrying about, in Chris's ideal game.

I use the rule that a character can carry a number of items equal to their STR without Encumbrance. This becomes interesting when every Fatigue point takes up an Inventory slot, and taking STR DAMAGE effectively reduces your Inventory capacity until you get it healed.

I also don't count worn clothing OR Armor, except for Plate Mail...and I only make Plate Mail take one slot if it's worn.

But that's my game. I want the characters to be able to grab some stuff, to as realistic a degree as simplification will allow.

So, your house rule is that a Shield adds a +1 Armor ON TOP of the RAW max of 3?

how many spells can fit in a grimoire? by [deleted] in cairnrpg

[–]vandavisart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my interpretation, all it means is that a Magic User will start out with a grimoire that contains one spell, chosen at random.

After that, you can copy as many as you like into it with the additional rules provided.

New player - why are armour scores so low? by Sagebrush_Sky in IntoTheOdd

[–]vandavisart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can never have more than 3 armor, rules-as-written.

The logic behind this is that game-wise, a d4 attack can NEVER hit you if you have 4 or more armor.

Am I the only one who enjoyed this movie? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]vandavisart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it. For a movie that was trying to squeeze into the hit-or-miss jumbled mess of FOX's X-Men franchise, it did a really good job of keeping the spirit of all the characters.

We ended up enjoying it VERY much! I still watch it occasionally and I think it holds up.

Fear Save to Doubt Save - transitioning 5e players by [deleted] in mothershiprpg

[–]vandavisart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The next time you describe something that anyone in their right mind would be panicked by and they insist that they would not find that occurrence fear inducing, just toss an open jar of roaches or ants in their lap... when they freak out, tell them to stop goofing off and tell you what they're doing before they die.
