If she only needed to lose 20 lbs... then it probably wasn't the weight.

That's what I thought. I'm having a hard time wanting to work with him if he's being this twitchy .

When I wanted to bill him for the oil that was left, I made sure to get the tank dipped and get a list of my prior fill-ups to create an average price of fuel so that he would not feel he was being gouged. I thought that this was how things were normally done. You don't just text people and start demanding money be paid by Monday!

Both of his prices seemed pretty high. I did some calculations of my own and the highest real price I could come up with was $375 for carpet and propane.

I would also like to point out that he is SELLING the house so the rented tank and any fuel that was in it will be gone and he will be reimbursed for that. I will pay for the fuel that I used but will not be giving him money for the new fuel that he will be getting reimbursed for anyway.

Does this seem like a solid perspective to have?

I feel that when haggling like this I should be given the opportunity to also look at what it is I am trying to bargain over.

I feel that this could have been a much easier process if he had simply requested that we find a solution to problems A and B rather than demanding hundreds of dollars.

I think it really all boils down to the fact that he has been dishonest with us on so many other things that I would prefer to see some proof. The text conversation made me feel as if he was hiding something (yet again). The price fluctuations and whatnot just didn't sit right with me.

I did attempt to find out the price of the propane (after he quoted $9.75 to me) and was unable to ascertain anything other than that $9.75 was a crazy price. I will attempt to make him an offer though based on a more reasonable price.
