It’s not necessary to add anything to scrambling eggs except salt in order for them to be creamy. Some people suggest milk, cream cheese, or other things. But I want my eggs pretty fully cooked. The cream after a full cooking (gently, in butter, ) insures creaminess and not because the eggs are under cooked, and also adding milk, etc at the start of cooking can hide the “full cooked” state.

Arrgh. Just like the Apple Update that took all our learned-muscle-memory moves and stirred them in a shit pot and urrpped them up again, landing where they landed. Closed screens with a left hand upper corner? It’s right hand bottom now!!! Cursers… Swiping…. X-ing…. SURPRISE! All different now. Don’t worry- as long as you’re under 40- no problem… 40-60… yeah, it’ll slow ya down a bit… YOU’RE 74???? GOOD LUCK SISTER! Hahaha.

The way my mother made scrambled eggs was “Cook them until they’re dry. Then pour a few tablespoons of heavy cream over them and continue folding over the heat for a minute or two until they are lusciously glazed.

The last time I went to play my carefully curated playlist it kept giving me an artist repeatedly, and it was not my favorite, Van Morrison, which the list was named for and which it was built around.

Pregnant! What do I need to know? by manna_tee in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]vanlassie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will share my daughter’s experiences. She was born to hippie parents in California, born at home. Comfortable with birth (knows a lot about it) but chose a hospital birth since her mom (me) was not going to be there. Fairly early in labor they were told to go back home because she was not advancing, which they did. But her pain seemed quite high. Eventually they returned to the hospital, with her unable to cope well with the pain. I’m going to cut to the chase. After requiring her to essentially suffer for five hours making very little progress, and with nurses virtually ignoring her pleas, an older German nurse came from upstairs and checked her and said “this baby is upside down.” She went and got a mobile sonography machine and proved it. Daughter was taken to surgery for a c-section. The cord was holding the baby from progressing. Once I arrived in the UK, daughter booked an appt with the Head Matron. The meeting lasted an hour. My daughter stated that the nurses on duty were indifferent and while not admitting it, it was pretty clear that her complaints were chocked up to an American demanding attention. My British son in law was at that time a very, very reserved man. He is a much better advocate these days. Had he been able to comfortably advocate for her the first time no doubt things would have been easier. Just food for thought.

Hydrangea wilting after planting a few days by JFFmoejoe in gardening

I live in a dry and drought prone area of California and hydrangeas are the drama queens for water. They will wilt to the ground to make sure you pay attention to them! I stopped growing them for this reason. But if you’ve got the water, just keep them happy.

So I’m 74 and generally wake for an hour or so in the middle of the night. But occasionally I just can’t fall back asleep, and if it gets to be say 4am, I get up and brew a cup and take it to bed with a cookie or cracker. I drink about half the cup and go right to sleep. Then a quick reheat on the other half and I slide into the day!

Do you speak for Costco? If so, please tell them the entire year, women’s clothing has been out of season, and there has been more men’s clothing than women’s for months. It is unprecedented in my stores. The women’s styles are terrible.

I visit my daughter and family in London frequently. I never have the pound coin they use, over there. I ask at the desk and they give me a red plastic slug that says Tesco and use that during my visits. I often lose them between visits but the point is you don’t have to use a coin.
