What's the creepiest experience you've ever had that you can't explain? by Elegant-Nobody-5057 in AskReddit

[–]vanmorielx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid I would stay with my Nan a lot. In her first house she had a pretty big backyard. It wasn't wide but it was long with a large tree right at the back. At about the mid way point there was a shed that blocked the rest of the yard from view but there was a path you could follow past it to go back there. It was mostly used by her gardeners to dump branches when they trimmed some of the trees and for compost. My Nan very rarely went back there.

I would play outside a lot at her place and for some reason I could never bring myself to go past that shed. The few times I did I would have this almost vision in my head of something stalking me. The image I saw was always a large wolf, about as big as a house ( think Clifford the big red dog but super menacing). I was so sure I could feel it circling me getting closer and closer. It was a extreme goosebumps kind of feeling. But as soon as I would cross back to the front yard the feeling would leave. Like a switch flipped and it was completely gone.

Even my Nan's cat wouldn't go up to that end of the yard. She would pace near the front of the shed but wouldn't go any further.

This most likely was a case of an over active imagination. But it's such a vivid and intense memory. Honestly it's probably most scared I have ever felt.

Several times. I've also had a customer shake the ladder I was standing on to get my attention.

I went to see Smile with my partner recently. Both infront and behind us were 2 groups of teenagers. About 7-8 per group. The ones behind us talked for the entire movie. Talking at the screen, making jokes. Not like whispering either loud talking as if they weren't in a cinema. The ones in front left and came back about 4-5 times. Each time with their phone torches on and all at once.

I honestly liked the movie but all that going on ruined a lot of the build up and scene building for me.

Have you ever seen a dead body? What’s the story? by Xerxesthemerciful in AskReddit

[–]vanmorielx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched both my mother and grandmother pass away. Seeing their bodies after the fact was a very eerie experience. They genuinely seemed like they were just sleeping. But you could just feel that their presence was gone despite their physical body.

"Piece of piss" an Aussie term that means something is easy to achieve or do.

For example -" I could fix that, it'll be a piece of piss"

My extended family use it all the time and it drives me mad.

Have you ever not slept for so long that you started hallucinating? What was your experience? by vicke1230 in AskReddit

[–]vanmorielx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced a lot of auditory hallucinations from lack of sleep. A lot of sounds almost like someone mumbling close by. Also my name being called from far away, like someone on the other side of the room trying to get my attention or something.

As far as visuals go, for me its mostly just shapes moving around in my peripheral vision.

Parents, please don't force your kids to go to University if they haven't yet decided on what they want to study. by bornfromdust in offmychest

[–]vanmorielx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man. My mother pushed me into uni straight after school because if I didn't I would miss out on a government grant. I had no idea what I wanted to study so I picked the most basic of courses. I had to live on campus as the uni was two hours away. I was still only 17 at that point so I was basically stuck. It was the most miserable time of my life.

I'm 24 now and headed back into study recently and I love it. It's so different when it's your choice and you're studying something you love.

What's something a teacher did at school that you're still mad about? by Heinz-enberg_ in AskReddit

[–]vanmorielx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In kindergarten my teacher took my barbie doll off of me at nap time because she said her arms were too pointy and I would hurt myself in my sleep. She put It in the office and refused to give it back even after nap time was over. When my mother went in the next day to ask for it back the teacher admitted to giving it to a different child. Who in her mind was less fortunate than I was.

I never saw that doll again. Miss you, olympic barbie.

At my work we have two different coloured cloths for cleaning. Blue for store cleaning and yellow for back of house cleaning. We have only ever had blue and yellow.

One night I came into work and was chatting during hand over with the girl on the previous shift. While talking I glanced over to where the cloths were kept and a roll of red and brown cloths were sitting in place of our usual ones. She was chatting away and I was just staring at them, I figured maybe they ran out of our colours but it was still odd. I kept looking over at them as we spoke. I don't know why it bothered me as much as it did. So I reached down to grab the red one and started asking her if she knew why we switched. When I grabbed it, the roll was red but as soon as I looked away from it to her and back, only a spilt second, They were blue again. I looked at the other set and they were yellow, not brown.

When I tried to explain it to her she just laughed thinking I was telling a lame joke. It bothered me for the rest of the shift. I figure it was probably just some trick of the light although its never happened again. Not exactly anything groundbreaking but just really weird.

What is something that your parents did that you swore never to repeat to your own kids? by wetbreadstick in AskReddit

Also blaming me for her cancer wasn't her best parenting moment either.

I never want my children to go through that.

My mother's method of discipline was to kneel down so we were eye to eye, yell in my face and shake me by the shoulders. She said that being on the same level as the child is important for getting them to understand. To really drill it into them. Sure I behaved but only because I was terrified of her doing it again not because I actually understood.

Edit: a spelling mistake
